what did you wrench on today??

well i decided to do valve clearance today a task which i have never had to do myself b4.... well looks as tho i wont be doing this today because after i got the cover off i immediately noticed that the #1 intake lobe is gouged all to heck and same with the #4 exhaust... the intake being the worse of the two and i havent rotated it yet but i think the cause of this is that the po tried to do the work and had them to tight? there is only 8k on the bike! what else could have caused this? and does anyone one have a good deal on used cams? preferably mild aftermarket but if the price is right on stock that would be good too.. i wanna ride it is so beautiful out!
What bike to you have?
Post in the parts wanted section. I bet you find some.

Finnished the carb cleaning today, yay! Still waiting for replacements for th screws I had to change from Phillips to flathead with a die grinder, Boo!
now I'll get to bench synch them, and beg, borrow, or steal a manometer.

I tried cleaning up some of the contacts that I can't change out on my wiring harness last night. Tonight I hope to put it back on the bike and finish changing connectors. Hopefully I'll have it running again by the weekend.

Well yesterday I fixed the bottom basement step, and just now I almost broke my neck cause I'm not used to there not being a big hole it it.

When a son went to Iraq last March we made a deal to ride the Dempster Highway when he gets back so that puts me to work to get the gs ready. I've had it on the track these past 5 years, not totally race-prepped but used for track days, so this past few days I have done the front forks and swapped the drag bars for Superbike bars. I have the front calipers apart waiting for pads. I'll do the front wheel bearings this week. When the front end is together I'll get new SS brake lines. I did the valves and I'm swapping Dyna coils onto it. I'll do the rear caliper and go to a SS brake line. The shocks and tires are good. I need a tank and have one coming that will need some work. I may get it started this summer but likely won't ride because I'm off on a 6 week trip by car. My goal is to have it the best it can be when he comes back and we do the trip next summer.

Can anyone here recommend a luggage rack and where to get one?

polishing the new gsxr top triple.... bout to put the 91 bottom triple for sale on the ole ebay....

i worked on tearing down my 86 honda 250r quad only to have a guy that is running the monster truck show to call me and ask if i wanted to ride in the intermission races lol. i said hell ya so me and my buddie got 7 days to put it all back together and get it running. cant wait

Tore down my forks and added a set of Progressive springs and 15w oil. Oil that was in her looked like green snot and the original springs were beyond sold on date years ago. The drain screws are buggered from the PO's, but I will fix that during the off season now that I know how easy it is to do forks if you take your time and read the manual and info available here.

Will be adding new shocks later today and will she how she runs with the new suspension.

Oh, also added a set of repo decals for the rear cowl. Son hates 'em...I am not so sure.

took cams out today and indeed the rockers are shot :'( and there is some scoring on some of the cam journals! man i have terrible luck buying used bikes..... not sure if ill need a whole new head or not. put the gsxr fender on and the brakes too. reco sideri g polishing the top triple may just paint her

redid valve adjustment. Again. after Steve catching the fact that I used a fershlugginner sae instead of metric feeler guages the last time.
He figured this out via Email, the guy is sharp. I'm so embarassed. :o
Also reassembled carbuerators and 'bench synched' them. Not real happy with that. Probably won't get them back on the bike till sunday, I'm so lazy.

Finally reconnected all the electrical wiring on the bike after work but didn't have time to put the gas tank back on since both of my horses decided to act up tonight. So step-daughter, girlfriend, and I dealt with them instead. I did manage to turn it over after checking all the lights so we'll see tomorrow how things go.

Replaced the tacomiter cable last night .That leves one bulb in the gear indicator and I willl have everthing working .

Does A workbench count?

Does A workbench count?

Plan on sand blasting the front and rear fender for the parts bike tonight in preparation for the "New Paint Scheme". Also been working on my new mobile workbench to help me consolidate tools and clean up some fo the crap all over the garage before the wife kills me. Is not much to look at right now but it is solid and hopefully will fulfill the needs i built it for. The fun part is all i bought for it was one 2x4 and the hardware. The lumber was stuff my neighbor was going to throw out and today I scored about 4 half sheets of plywood at aconstruction site. I stopped to aske if I could go through there scrap pile to see if maybe they had some longer 2x4 i could use for braces and stuff and the guy says here take these we can't use em. SCORE! So now I have a pretty nice work bench to work on.

You can see where I started the frame the other night, between yesterday and today I have it just about done. I will grab a pick tonight and post it.

I started my bike, in the garage. Then I backed it out and took it for a ride.
Just cant seem to wanna wrench when the weather is calling me to ride.

Well, put the gas tank on and went for a drive...no change. So I'll probably have to change out the stator. See my post in electrical.
