    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Started working on the Suburban last night.
Need to change out the intake manifold gaskets...

Got this far last night...Only a couple of brackets, the fuel lines, the distributor and a valve cover to go...then out comes the manifold...
After that of course is old gasket clean up time...ugh...

Wouldn't be bad, except I have to work on a step stool...
 
Feel for ya. That crap will kill a mans back.
My neighbors 03 Burb also has the same leak.

Just had a 1200 dollar fuel pump done a few weeks ago too.

I use a wire wheel on a 90 degree die grinder for that sort of thing, much easier than hand tools, and a wire wheel won't eat up the surface like a rollock wheel can. Just a suggestion.

That is too funny...look familiar ? I am in the process of doing the same exact job on my truck. I'm using roloc surface conditioning discs to clean mine.

If you have an adjustable ladder, this is much more comfortable. You can lay on your stomach and easily reach the back of the engine.

Let's see, put the new stator back into the cover but need to remove it and put some loctite on the screws. Pushed the wiring through that little rubber dam; fortunately it was still a little oily so I didn't have too much trouble. Then went to pick up some parts to do the valve adjustment and 4 80-lb bags of concrete to fix the pen for the horses. I'll start on that in the AM and maybe get the stator back on tomorrow evening as well. Also, did some school work (working on my Masters degree).

LOL...yes, that is funny...

Just buttoned mine up, changed the oil, added anti-freeze and started her up...
So far, so good. :D

That really was a pain in the arse job, no doubt...but I just keep thinking of the $500-600 I saved doing it myself....:)
 
Way to go Bob! I know I hate being bent over all the time it takes to do that job!!! Are you still giving up on drag racing? Ray.

Yup....need to sell the bike soon...don't need the money, just hate to see it sitting...

(Although I'm considering setting a bike up to run the street legal 10.50 index class they run at my track...;))
 
Not really wreching but replace the mail box before coming to work. Some goofball hit it last night and kept going. I realy do not like having to do things without the proper time and materials.:twistedevil:

Installed the new stator today that I received from Tkent02. Had a bit of trouble getting it on but I finally did it. I haven't started the bike yet because I'm going to take Tom's and some other's advice and do the valve adjustment right now anyway. So I'm crossing my fingers it will start up just fine.

Fortunately, the ignition cover screws loosened up just fine for me today so once my parts come in from the local shop as well as Z1 then I'll get started on the adjustment.
 
Building a set of stainless steel lines for my 1150 factory oil cooler on my 1100E. Using Earl's Peformance Plumbing banjo-style ends so I can use the factory connections on the case and the cooler. Proving to be a real PITA.
 
Had to clean up after my mechanic today. The vent switch in the car wasn't working, and I just had the air conditioning worked on. I'm sitting there wondering why the switch is doing nothing, and finally noticed a little plastic doohicky hanging down from under the dash, with two cables coming out of it. A little thing in it rotates as I turn the switch. Sure enough there's a place where it snaps right in up under the dash, and now it works fine. It's an easy blooper I suppose, but he's gonna hear about it! :rolleyes:
 
spent 16 hours getting a semi truck masked and wiped and painted. i tell ya what thos sob's are freaking huge when u do one urself :lol:
 
Bent a sheet of lexan for anew windshield used the barbecue for heat I now have grill marks on the shield will use it as is for awhile and see if there are any other problems with the mounting system.
 
Yesterday replaced all the connections on 450 to and from ignitor and signal generator, thought I had carb. problems turned out to be bad connections in this wiring. Bike runs very well now. terrylee
