DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what did you wrench on today??

If you cruze e-bay and craigs list your going to buy something. Call me lazy, but I found a complete set of body work for my 650, with really decent factory paint for less than I think I could have bought automotive paint. My origonal tank is badly spider cracked and the clear coat and decal on the other parts were pretty bad. Waiting for gasgets for the tank and I'll put it on. New cowl and side covers in place.

Sweet! Now you can repaint the others and sell 'em.

Finished my cardboard exhaust mock up tonight, missing a "muffler" because I don't know what shape I want yet.

It's really just a "concept", so don't worry about the fact that it doesn't appear to flow very well, it's just so I can convey what I want to the exhaust builder...

Yesterday I spread 150lbs of ice melt on my driveway, bought 200 more lbs at Fleet Farm last night for $28. Going to spread that today. I plowed some of the muck off yesterday, I just checked, there's a lot more soft ploweable muck out there now, so, I'll plow more off today before spreading more ice melt. I might be out on the bike by next week!!!:D

I took off the the valve cover to finally get the valve adjustment looked at for the first time since I got the bike.
Snapped a bolt. Soaked the leftovers in wd40 and came back later. Filed sides and vicegripped. Broke to the base. Cut a groove and impact drived it. No luck. Finally started drilling and broke an extractor bit in it. Now I started swearing. Luckily I managed to drill around it and got the tip out, and continued to enlargen the hole out to the threads. Tomorrow I'll buy a thread tap, and that adventure should be over.

On to the valve clearances: All of them had 0 clearance, or less than 0,05mm that is. But the buckets can all be turned by hand. I ordered some gaskets and a tool for removing shims. To make myself feel better I also ordered the carbtune pro. That should make the next couple times in the garage more fun.

Yaaay! A friend of mine who does the county plowing was clearing the storm drains with the big front end loader and helped me out by popping the ice off of my driveway nearly up to my garage! If I'm careful, I could have my bike out tommorrow! Change oil, ride it some, then do the valve shims. I know, I should do the shims first, but, the first ride of the season beckons........:D

Does sorting tools count as wrenching? wrenches were sorted.. My wife bought me a bottom cabinet for my birthday and I managed to exchange my 16year old top box on warranty. As a further gift she lets me keep them in the apartment.

nothing....double whammy day..allergies on over drive and battling pink eye..kinda not motivated to even move.

"And now for something completely different"
Had to be at work at 3:30am today to finalize the disconnection of 3 of our old Plastic Injection Machines in our Plant. My 2nd and 3rd shift guys did pretty darn good, only minor details were left. The Riggers showed at 8:00 and we hauled them out the door and onto the Semi's by 1:00pm. We then relocated two others inside the plant.
Here is the mid-sized one of the three, a '87 vintage 400 Ton (clamping force not weight) HPM.

All this to make room for 4 new Toshiba Electric Presses like this that are showing up next Month!!

Pretty much couldn't do anything today except taxes for my girlfriend, took off the engine guards from a 550 Tkent02 had for mine, and helped my brother-in-law pack up his ex-girlfriend's Uhaul. Need to help him unload it tomorrow but still can't do anything since I'll be in town all day (might take my horse in the trailer and ride afterwards though).

Great to see ya posting DDM :). Lets cross paths this summer.

Definetely planning on it..I think I have 2 others with GS's interested as well..one lives down near Litchfield and the other in Mpls...I think both of them are on the site now..I'd love to get a MN/Wisc/Iowa run together..maybe a week-end deal..meet someplace in the middle..majority of my riding last year was alone after Ed passed away..been wrenchin on the rocket last few days..got my parts from Z1 last week and doing some touch up stuff..really gonna get the itch this week when its 50deg.

Exhaust bolts

Exhaust bolts

Pulled some snapped exhaust bolts out of of the engine, used some PJ-1 to loosen them up. Painted the side hard cases.

Sent a drillbit into my middle finger drilling carb plugs on an XVS11. I've put down the tools for the evening.

Solved the problem of my triple clamp hitting the tank at full lock. A previous owner had put the top fork bolts on backward with the captive nuts towards the tank  Reversed them and all is good! Saved me having to weld the frame to reduce steering lock :)

Removed and painted the battery box. Battery acid had corroded the whole area. My better half came out to help sand before painting. I hope she continues such behaviour :p it might help me justify getting a sand blasting cabinet too.

Then just washed and lubed the chain on my ducati.

Looking forward to UPS bringing me a new exhaust tomorrow.
