what did you wrench on today??

I re-installed the carb rack, airbox, and filter box. The filter box had been removed by the PO, in favor of bolting a filter directly on to the airbox, which caused some problems, especially at speed. Man, getting those in and the boots seated on both sides was like playing tetris.

Worked at the new shop today..Did the carb on a kids Yamaha PW 50 and changed the tranny oil. The guy said it wouldnt start and if it did it stalled right away. Thing was full of water in the tank and the carb. I got it all up and running and it starts first kick. The kid is maybe 5 or 6 and is gonna be happy his bike is back. Then i did a fork seal job on a 97 GSXR 750. Had a lot of the afternoon left, so i did all the calipers on the 78 1000 E project i got going..

Saturday was Arnies B-day. Six of us regional "wrench heads", slapped this litle gem together. Started as split cases and a bench full of pats, and was running by 4:00am Sunday morning. :D

It had to be done!!!

I painted the tank and side covers about a year and a half ago, and Saturday...I was assigned the "carbs".

Not sure what they were off of, but it was my job to see to it that they fit the 1000 Honda head and boots. 7+ hours later... they fit like a glove. :D Still need to have a custom center shaft made so the gates all lift at the same time, but we won't sweat the small stuff.

Top end: Honda 1000, with a little "work".
Bottom end: Honda 750, with a little "work".

This is one bike, where you wouldn't want to ASSuME anything, you might end up, eating your shirt, among other things... ;)

GREAT time, had by all......................................

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ARNE! :twistedevil:

Picked up a Honda Elite 250 scooter today so I can flip off the gas stations on my daily commute. The PO delivered the scooter to me and bought some tools from me which made the deal even better!

Oh yeah, all I had to do was fill the tires with air and put some gas in the tank on the way back from my 30 mile ride tonight:)

Actually got a little done tonight for a change.

Cleaned up the work bench, cable tied the bits of the harness that can be secured, took the carb parts to be painted off ready for prep work.

Took the GSX for a test run today and it worked, aside from having a dead battery from past efforts. Had to roll start the bugger when out today. Which was fun when i stopped on a dead flat street . Had to roll the bike 150m down the road to find enough of a hill to be able to light the fire.

Battery is on the trickle charger and we'll see tomorrow if this battery is shot (I hope not), i'll do that along with putting all the tupperware back on the RF.

wired new to me 96 ninja left hand control, now i have a hazard button plus all other butons dont stick and operate as they should

adjusted the chain on my wife's W650 and continued to bash on the sprocket cover of my 79 GS. Shift shaft is become one with the cover in some sort of vulcan meld!

Nothing ....

I got all my maintenance done in March so now I am just riding. I am amazed how reliable this 31 year old bike is.

Last year the bike had some drivability problems because of the carbs. It didnt like to start in temps under 50 F but after going thru the carbs and adding a marine battery in the car this bike has gotten Myself back and forth to work even when the temps dip down in the 30's.

Replaced the tach wire on the GS750 today. Must have taken seven or eight minutes.
Tested thoroughly afterwards.
Works fine. :D

Well I've been wrenching on a lot lately but I haven't been contributing!

In the past month I've cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, replaced the front and rear tires, replaced the plugs, changed the oil, tightened and oiled the chain, cleaned and oiled the air filter, replaced the battery, followed the directions in the stator papers and tested the entire charging system, found I need to a new R/R and now I'm just waiting for the part to show up! Once it arrives I should be good to go again!

Had a new fairing that I ordered from eBay come in yesterday but it's going to take a little playing around with to get it to fit properly so I've decided to hold off on it for a rainy day when I have nothing else to do.

Spent all weekend getting my 80 CBX running. Had to install carbs, rebuild 3 brake calipers, flush brake masters, basic stuff for a bike off the road for 10 years. It was all worth it though, actually rode it this evening for about 30 minutes, runs like a TOP! :D
