If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

What exhaust will fit my 79 1000L?

The right side muffler is broken off completely. The PO wrapped over the break and put a clamp on each side.

I took it off today, and the baffle fell out.

With nothing else to put on there, I took out all the baffle components and put it back on, wrapping over the break and with a clamp on each side...

Will a '79 750L exhaust fit?

How about the MAC slip-ons? They say "not for G or L model." I'm guessing this is because my L uses a partially welded system, so... If i cut the headers, can I use the slip ons?

Thanks

Ive asked the similar question with no results. Lemme know what you find out. Also I have a stock exhaust in mint condition if you want to buy.

I'm looking for a stock 4 into 2 exhaust for my '78 GS1000G. Don't need the mufflers. Do you still have the headers ?

How did you come up with a '78 1000G?

Over here, they were not introduced until 1980.

Yeah the early ones were assembled in late '79, but were sold as '80 models.

.

You're right ! I put a question on the discussion page and all agree it's an '81 model. Will your pipes fit it ?

I have an 850 L and when I was rebuilding it a scrap metal dealer stole the exhaust system off my back deck. I ended up finding one side and then the other at an MC junkyard but the mufflers were shot. I cut the mufflers off and had sleeves welded on to the headers. I bought MAC slipons with removable baffles. The original mufflers were crimped to fit around the axle bolts. I was a little concerned about this at first, but when fitting it all together they ended up about 1/4 inch from the axle bolt. Had to modify the clamping system a bit to make it fit. The Mac slipons come with a sliding bracket and everything ended up nice and tight. The other thing that I found at the MC scrapyard were the cover plates. I had these re-chromed and the nuts welded on to the headers. All in all, it looks original. I have no trouble with the Mac slipons, they are quiet and somehow cooler than the pipes that were on before. The pipes that were on the bike were not the originals, they had been welded on by the PO.
