Ed,
The 110(X) says they're 1100 pipes.
The difference between E and Kat pipes is just the location of the hangar, and the heat shield.
Kat pipe hangars are closer to the middle of the megaphone, where E pipes have the hangar closer to the front end.
82 Kat pipes (for the 1000) have the same part number (as confirmed by Joe), but they have silver painted exhaust collars.
83 Kat pipes (for the 1100) have black painted collars.
Also, 83 pipes have a slightly larger center exhaust exit opening compared to the 82 model. I'm fairly certain this is due to the cam changes in 83 which had more lift in both intake and exhaust. I've had to run 83 E pipes on my 82 Kat while I tracked down a set of Kat pipes, and they needed jetting help.
So it looks to me like you have two (2) sets of 83 Kat pipes.
These will of course, fit perfectly on an 82 Kat as well as 83.
Major score.
Polish them up and they will fetch a good penny.
Awesome info Scott...you too Joe and Eric. Thanks to everyone.
Polished them up some and most of the surface rust comes right off. One set is almost pristine but the other is just good.
Guess I scored (got a set of 1000ST pipes with the lot too). If I were to slam these on ebay with a BIN price what would you guys suggest?
