Anyone know what brand of head gasket this is? It is for an 80mm bore 1100E
I ordered a Cometic 8034 and got this from Orient Express.
Should I use it or try to return it?

That is a Cometic, fiber head gasket. Nothing wrong with that up to about 12-1 compression. Ray.

I must be a fairly old gasket, looks like its been sitting around for some time.
It has marks on it where it has had tape on it and it was in between two pieces of cardboard.

No, its not used, the sealing o-rings arent crushed. It looks old like it is old technology, been sitting around for awhile.

Piece of junk gasket! Thanks for the advice. I should have returned it.
Installed it, torqued it to 40 ft/lbs, went for a very short ride and it was leaking badly. Pulled the valve cover to retorque and some were down to 10 ft/lbs. Retorqued it and it still leaks badly. NEVER had a problem with a modern 8034 Cometic, only requiring a slight retorque after a few hundred kms.

damn,
sucks to be you.
hard to tell by a picture and not seeing it in person...looks like a graphite gasket...ooops!
if you thought it was wrong then you should have verified it with the seller and made your own choice.
shlt happens...been there many of times.

I had the engine apart with the cases split, to fix some leaks, determined to not have to tear it down again, had the block resealed, installed main studs. I never ordered from there before, but they were the only one that had the main studs in stock so I figured I would get a head gasket at the same time. I have been complaining to them, getting the same old crap like its somehow my fault. I even contacted Cometic and posted on Dragbike.com.
So this morning I got an email saying they are sending me a new one, no charge. Which is good, but I still have to pull the head, re degree the cams etc, pita. Well, at least its fall/winter and not the main riding season.

Well, here is the result of that head gasket. Never got around to changing it. Head was check for warp and block was freshly machined, HD studs torqued to 40-45lb:
I started a thread on Dragbike.com, should I post this there too?

Wow that's looks pinched out.
Maybe over did the torque? Was that cylinder sealed?

Stock torque level is 25.5-29 ft-lbs. 40-45 ft-lbs. looks to be too much for that type of gasket.

All cylinders had 170+ psi until that happened. It ran fine with that gasket for quite some time. I believe it was still firing on that cylinder with the seal broken.
Maybe I need to take a better picture of just the gasket against a white background.

Use a stock MLS gasket and you should be fine. Not sure about that much head torque though.

I dont think Suzuki made an 80mm bore head gasket.
The blame falls on the crappy old pos gasket that Orient Express sent me.
Doesnt matter anyway, the bike is being parted out.

Here is a closeup picture. I think it was still firing on that cylinder, Compression test showed 120 psi on that one

Looks like a Cometic composite gasket.
I've blown a few of those before I started using copper.
Cometic even made a bad batch of 1166 gaskets and screwed up the oil pressure and drain ports. They p!ssed oil on start up.
