A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

What's my '78 GS750E colour?

Himble

Forum Apprentice
Hi folks, I realise that the subject is open to all sorts of interpretations etc. but I really am keen on finding out what the actual colour of my newly acquired GS750E is.

The bike is Australian and is in original condition, not restored. As a consequence, the paint may well be a tad faded, given it's now 40! :)
There are a few paint chips on the tank which have been touched up with a different shade, so it looks a bit crappy.
At this stage I'm not looking to do a full resto, as the bike is to be used as a regular runner (and it goes well now! ) but I'd like to respray the tank.
I'll need to find a source of replacement decals to match the current ones.

Can anyone shed light on paint colour and a source for decals? Pic attached.

TIA

I've never seen a factory paint job like that one. Worse (or best) case scenario is to take it to an auto paint store to scan the color and have it mixed, and then to a graphics business who might also be able to replicate the decals in vinyl. I've done both with success. I saw your thread on the SOHC/4 site for this bike, too.

I'll probably take this approach as it's going to be nigh on impossible to find out the original colour. The PO reckons he's seen another 750 in the same colour/decals around Perth...I certainly haven't!

Thanks all for replies so far! Fortunately I've been able to track down the replacement decals from the UK.
I'll get the paint matched and then.............

My 78 .. or it could have been a 76 ?? was bone red not a candy and not what appears to be orange. Glad that you found the decals but .. There are certainly guys in your area that can pin stripe that probably for close to the same cost or less just using your photos. I am a better stripper then I ever was a graphics installer so in my mind .. I have to buy two sets of graphics if I hope to get enough material to get it right once.
