A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

you didnt seal the cases? you didnt scrape off the old gaskets?

Cases are sealed. If you look close you can see the gray Yamabond on the seams. No, not the gaskets....

Hey, this is fun! :D Don't spoil it, Ray!!

Just a guess...crankshaft seal in backwards?

Edit: Tarbash posted while I was typing. I'm not a copy cat...honest.:)

I'll drink the beer when this damn motor is finally together!! It's diet pepsi for now.

Threads are good.

Ditch the pepsi it only makes one paranoid, beer makes everything look factory fresh-lol

Got me on what's wrong but it's fun.

Right side of case, 1 of 3 bolt holes has something brown in it. Thought it was a broken bolt.

Is that crank seal in backwards?

DING!DING!DING! We have winners!!

If you look at the microfiche from Suzuki, it sure looks like I put it in right. But after hearing from Ray, I checked the one on my Skunk. Sure enough...backwards. I thought I was going to have to split the cases again! But I was able to get it out. I drilled a small hole in it, then reamed the hole out with a screwdriver to make a bigger hole. Then I slowly clipped on it with some side cutters and eventually tore it out.

New one on order. From searching some old posts, I should be able to drive a new one in.

Thanks for playing along! :)

I was going to guess that you didn't polish the inside of your cases well enough yet.

I can picture Bruce now, pulling a Homer...

DOH!!!:D

When RapidRay called me, I didn't want to believe him! So I had to go out to the garage and pull the cover off the Skunk. And it was an instant "Ah, Schitt!!"

Look at part number 20. It faces just like I installed it.

I sure didn't want to pull those cases apart! I just hope I can get the new seal in.

I have faith in ya Bruce. You'll make it work, or bugger it up tryin :) HEHEHEHE. I have found a couple of small discrepencies like that in some of the parts fiches. The rear caliper assembly is a bit like that. The way THEY show it going together clearly doesnt work. but yet, there it is in black and white...lol

This was a fun read. I don't know what anybody is talking about (I mean besides the beer and the pot). If I were standing in the presence of the bike, and you showed me the piece that's backwards or whatever, I might be able to nod my head and grunt, but God help me if I had to put it together correctly.
