What are the differnt types of Mag wheels offered on the GS's (stock) I know the one's on the 550 but I have seen only one other kind and I cant seem to find a picture of them. so if you guys ahve any that would be sweet and this may help others on the forum for looking for wheels. I searched and couldnt find a lot of anything.

If you have the stats on the wheel sizes withds and diamiters that would be awsome.

Even though I am not looking for the spoke wheels some one should post thos up here to just for the info.

Thank you guys
Jake

no one has pics of wheels or knows of the ones im talking about?

There are at least four wheel styles, spokes were first mostly 77, 78 models even though some did show up on some of the smaller displacements longer.

First cast style is Star pattern. These were 79 to roughly 80.

Next were the cast Spoke style 82 and up for most suzukis.

Next there was the Katana and later 83 and up casts.

After checking Ebay, I notice a later version that must have been used on the 550 from 84 and up.

Sorry to have to use Ebay, but it really is the place to do quick research. As you see, prices are cheap for wheels, shipping can get pricey though.

On the 82+ cast wheel you wouldnt happen to know the width of the rear wheel would you?

Nice job. That seems to sum it up pretty nicely.

Well thanks but after reading the first post again, I see that I only answered half of it, I didn't post any info on wheel sizes, widths, or diameters. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of that info with me. Most rear tires are 16, 17, and a few 18 inchers. Width, in one word Narrow.

That might depend on the size of the bike. Most are probably either 2.15 or 2.50.

I can check tonight when I get home. My wife's 850L has a 16" rear wheel, my son's 81 850G has a 17" rear wheel off an '82 1100G, so we'll see how they compare.

.

If you look at the parts manual, they list the wheel sizes and width. I'm too lazy to do this research on all wheels but someone with more spare time could do it.:)

good idea. by parts manuals you mean and online OEM catalog?

I started this thread to not only make things easyer for a person to find wheels they may want.

but also I was mainly wondering which wheels are 2.5 but since i seem to be getting the feeling that most wheels are offered in both 2.15 and 2.5 I will just have to look it up.

OK, I'm home. :dancing:

Just looked, the 16" on the '82 850L is 2.75 wide.

The 17" from the '82 1100G is 2.50 wide. :D

I must have been thinking of front wheels that are 2.15 wide. :o

Better look at those fronts again Steve:p; the '82+ 850/1100 G models have a 2.15" front but the earlier front wheels, and all the L model front wheels, are 1.85" wide.

True enough, but I was only trying to account for why I was thinking there might be a 2.15 at the rear.

Seems I can't tell which end is which.

Bonus Points: What manufacture are most of the GS cast wheels? Give you a hint, they still make expensive performance and bling rims for cars today...
