    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

When to change the filter and oil.

G'Day everyone.

I have had my 750 for about 12 months and changed the oil and filter about 6 months ago.

My question is that i ride the bike about 40 miles every weekend or two.

So basically I am only doing say on average 100 miles per month.

When would you change the oil/filter.

Don't know what your manual would suggest, but all of the auto makers have time and mileage factors. For example, 3 months/3,000 miles. Some riders claim they are really picky and change their oil every 1.000 or 2,000 miles. In your case, that might be appropriate. Definitely change it just before storing it for winter, and don't start the bike every couple of weeks to "charge the battery" or whatever. Get a battery maintainer to handle that chore, the rest of the bike can just sit.

Your low-frequency, low mileage trips are about the worst on the bike. The only thing worse would be riding about 2 or 3 miles to work every day. Barely getting it warm and off choke really does not help the oil.

My wife and I ride quite a bit. I do more than she does, but I am comfortable changing the oil on both bikes at 5,000 mile intervals. Last year I drove abut 21,000 miles, she only did about 7.000. It is not unusual to go out on an evening ride of 50-100 miles after work, but on the weekends we tend to do all-day rides of 3-400 miles. She is teaching a class right now, will be back in about an hour. Then we have a 600 mile ride to go get our son and come back.

Thanks for the advice.Much appreciated.More riding sounds good to me.Have a 18 month old so the last few months have been a bit harder to get out.
