A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I can't find anything for the 82/83 bikes. Clymer only has the shaft drive bike manuals for those years. Any tips? Should I just get a Haynes? Ugh...

The Suzuki OEM number is 99500-39012-03E

The Suzuki shop manuals aren't perfect, by any stretch, but they're pretty good. Clymer's manual is pretty good, too. I'd suggest you get both as they sort of compliment each other.

At your Suzuki dealer?

:-D

You know I live in New York City and have to go all the way out to Jersey to find a halfway decent dealer. They're all independent places out here and don't have ANYTHING for bikes older than 10 years. I generally get all my stuff via mail order. I thought I might find a Clymer or equivalent but they don't exist for the 82/83 chain drive 1100's...

Thanks,
Josh

Hi Mr. ironsheik,

A cursory search of ebay turned up this '80-'82 GSX1100 manual. Is that close to what your looking for?

Oh gee, it's in New Zealand.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Hi i got mine of eBay late last year from England, took about 3 weeks to turn up here in Australia (UK Postal Strike) but delievered to my door, more than happy with condition.

You don't need a "halfway decent dealer", Josh. No dealer's going to stock the Suzuki manual for your bike...whether they're decent, or not. But...they can all order it for you and it will come to them from one of the numerous Suzuki distributor warehouses within just a few days. The days of dealers stocking parts is pretty much over...especially for bikes more than 2 or 3 years old.
