    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

where do Canadians buy Tires?

Hey Guys, I'm saving up for some new Bridgestone Battlaxe BT-45's, I was just curious where fellow GS'ers buy their tires online? Its's for a 78 GS750?
So far the best place I've seen is at www.canadasmotorcycle.ca, they have free shipping too.
 
When I was looking they had the best online price in Canada. I live near the Detroit/Windsor border so I compared canadasmotorcycle to bikebandit. Bikebandit has free shipping in the US so I priced them out shipped to detroitmailbox.com (I live near the Detroit/Windsor border). When I added the exchange rate, the toll charges each way and the $5 fee at detroitmailbox the price was cheaper than canadasmotorcycle. BUT that's if you don't get hauled in at customs. If you do, and have to pay the HST, then the price was about the same. Factor in my time and canadasmotorcycle was a better choice.

Having said all that, I don't have to tools or skills to mount my own tires so have to pay a shop to do it. The best price I could find locally was $30 per tire, installed and balanced. When I add this cost to the cost of the tires from either canadasmotorcycle or bikebandit I'm better off buying direct from my local dealer where installation and balancing is included.

That's what I'm debating, I don't have a place to install the tires myself so I'm either debating on bringing my bike to the dealer and have them remove, mount,balance and re-install or just bring my tires in loose.
While I have you guys here, can someone confirm if a 78 GS750 spoke rim has a tube? I'm pretty it does and if so should I buy new ones with new tire purchase?

To the best of my knowledge. there's no such thing as a tubeless spoke wheel, only cast wheels can run tubeless-

Can anyone recommend any other brand of tires? I have a local motorcycle garage recommending michelin pilot activ and commander II tires, does anyone have any experience with michelin tires compared to bridgestone?

I have only known one bike to have spoked wheels and tubless tires, and the Suzuki GS is NOT it. :p

You better check with the dealer for the charge for mounting. In a lot of cases, they will charge you 3 or 4 times the normal rate if the tire is not bought from them. Pretty much standard practice these days. You would be better to use an independent or even place a help wanted ad on Kijiji.

I have a local independent that will do them for $50 a pair. The local dealer wanted $75 a tire if I brought them in.

Best to check around.

What about tire brands, what does everyone use? I know this will stir the bucket but I'm only familiar with the Bridgestone BT-45's?

I did not like the bt 45s at all.
Avon road riders or Perilli sport demons are my suggestions.:)

now you say something....and I just got the BT45's for the FZ.....

I would have gone with the Pirelli, Dunlops, but they did not have the one up size I wanted for the rear....bummer....

Lol...I only got 6000kms out of my rear tire and they were slick in the rain.
I am trying the sport demons on my 1100 right now and love them. Doubt I will get the Ks out of them like the Avons though.:)
 
Perfect, keep the options coming, Pete's superbike has the best prices so far on tires but they do not have a lot in stock for a rear tire
 
Phone his 800 number and ask him if he can,and how long to get them. He's a fast shipper.

6K, that's gonna take me 3 years to do.....LOL

and I don't ride in the rain, ya ya no snide comments.....

the sport demons I have on the GS, nice friggen tire.....very grippy for sure...
