    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I was cleaning my bike the other day and I noticed this stray wire just "floating" about, not connected to anything.

It's the connector that the Yellow arrow is pointing at.
I thought it might go where the Red arrow is pointing, but after I connected to that my battery drained quickly to the point where I had to jumpstart the bike. It's currently disconnected and my battery seems to hold a charge fine (it's been 2 days since charging and the bike started fine today).

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

check if there is power coming out of there using as multimeter. I feel it should be earthing.
 
Wow, I feel like an idiot.
I pulled that wire out and it actually is the other end of that red wire on the other side of the fuse!

I still have no idea what it does, but what I did just completed the circuit and I guess that's where my power drain was coming from.

I'm running out right now to see if it's a live 12V.
If it is, then I'l remove that wire, unless someone can tell me where it's supposed to go. Any chance it's some auxiliary power source? Possibly some add-on feature the P.O. had and then took off?

Power feed IN (non=fused) to the fuse box should be the battery, whether it's direct or in serial with the starter solenoid. Power OUT (fused) from the fuse box should be two lines: 1) to the ignition 2) to the Reg/Rec. If the power out from the reg/rec has been redirected straight to the battery, then that might be it but I suspect it's an alternate power source that you can cap off. or remove. The strange part is the type of connector that it is. The only time I've used those type of connectors is to bolt on to something, like the battery or a ground source.
 
Oddly enough, there's no power going through that wire, the red arrow is a ground.
I guess something was shorting out, but I would think that would only be if the wire was "hot".
I'll just wrap the end in electrical tape - I charged the battery and the bike's perfectly fine again; starts, runs, hot starts, etc. all fine. \\:D/

I'm expecting a manual in the mail any day now, so maybe that will help clear things up.
