A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Checked Z1 and BikeBandit, neither have them, also couldn't find on ebay. I need to do my valves, so I need a valve cover and breather cover gasket, and I need to investigate a noise in the area of my stator and I need to change my clutch springs, so instead of buying all of those individually, I want to get a kit, but cannot find one.

Where to buy them?

I got my gasket kit from ebay, i got it from the UK, searching world wide on ebay does not always bring up everything, so it does help to go to that countries ebay site and search there

Looks like the factory gasket kit is discontinued for the 1982 650GL. It's listed in the "Optional" tab of the factory parts fishe but the part number shows as unavailable.

Ebay is a good place to look for gaskets. If you go with an aftermarket kit please supplement with an OE base gasket and the critical O-rings such as on the base gasket oil feed passages.

Thank you. I wont be doing anything on the lower engine just yet, but I will remember that for future reference.

Off to ebay I go again I guess, lol.

You can roll the dice with aftermarket Athena or Vesrah kits (partsnmore.com probably carries the Athena kit, I think for ~$90). I wouldn't trust anything but an OEM gasket for the cylinder base and head but you're not changing those. Honestly I've had no issues with Athena gaskets on the covers. Doesn't look like OEM full gasket kits are available any longer for the 650G motors. Those 4 individual gaskets run about $50 at gssuzuki.com. Though, many of us rarely if ever change the breather gasket :)

There's also the "make your own" gasket option.

I thought the breather has to be removed to remove the valve cover?

It depends on the model. On my 550L it's not difficult to remove the valve cover without removing the breather.
