DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Did you get your "Welcome Wagon" bit from BassCliff? :-k

If so, he has a list of vendors in there.

If not, look him up, it's easier than you think. Go to your Google search window, type in "BassCliff".

.

Just to add to what Steve said, since there might be something about RealGaskets in BassCliff's notes. RealGaskets are highly regarded, but usually not recommended on 550s and other models where the tach cable enters the valve cover. Their gaskets are thicker and the extra clearance can cause meshing issues and premature wear on the tach pinion.

ebay is a good source for gaskets too. Try to use original Suzuki gaskets where ever possible since they are better quality than ALL the aftermarket brands. You can also get those half moons on ebay, but don't limit your search range to 550, those pieces fit on many different GS models.

Not to mention your local shops can still get them too...might have to wait a week but still worth looking.

Got my gaskets and moons at the local suzuki dealer.

I think I paid damn near $25 for the valve gasket.
Can't remember how much for the moons....$10?

Luckily dealer is right by my house, so it's faster than the internet.
But usually it costs a little more, because everything is Suzuki/Mikuni brand.

Don't forget the top breather gasket as well!

I thought mine was fine, so I didn't buy it....but then ripped it apart and YIKES! Had to run back to the dealer, haha.

Plus one for the Real Gaskets, if you have a two valve head with head mounted tach drive. I have used them for the last 6 years on two bikes and they are great. Ray

Z1 has Vesra half moons for around 10 bucks for 4. I have used them and can say so far so good. They have not been in there for that many miles at this time. I recently installed an aftermarket gasket as well. It was 11 bucks at a local repair shop. I would have bought OEM, but it was about the delivery time.
