Hi

I have searched the Internet and I am trying to find the best place to get a genuine sh-775 series r/r. Roadstercycle.com has them
available for $95.00. Partzilla has them too. But most people say to stay away from them. Any suggestions??

Look up the Polaris part number here on the forum. It will be in one of the many threads here on this Forum. Once you have that, google it and you will find many vendors selling them.

$65-$75 before shipping is the rough retail price of these.

Check local Polaris dealers, maybe you can save a bit on shipping.

They also come up used on eBay for a bit less.

+1 on that. I am in Canada and found that all of my local Polaris dealers sell the SH775 for $97. With shipping running $12-$15 at minimum it is cheaper for me to support a local dealer than any other option.

Bring your Polaris dealer the best price you find online. Ask if they will match it. My local guy wouldn't match it, but he knocked off about $15. No shipping charge either. The worst they can do is say no.

This is good strategy - a local dealer is just going to order it from Polaris, it' s little effort on his part and a chance to make a sale!

This is a good idea but I haven't found a better online price in Canada. All the good prices are in the US and by the time you add shipping and exchange onto it, the $97 is cheaper.

Use a SH-232 and it will fit perfectly, have wires already connected, and never fail.
Per your great advice , I used a SH-232 for 3 years ( redid connections properly),but it didn't save the original stator or its replacement.
honestly,if you saw the comparison of the drop off in stator leg current with the series SH-775, you'd be convinced !

In Canada Unless you can get it cheaper than the $94 i think the FH020AA, or SH775 R/R with connector kit from http://roadstercycle.com/ is a pretty good deal. Since it would cost $40 for the connectors plus shipping from eastern beaver i think ordering from roadster is probably the simplest all in one solution you might save $10-15 CDN if you are able to get connectors from a local source but my local polaris dealer wanted like $124 just for the reg. But i only called the one 5 mins away from me it might be cheaper elsewhere.

Unless someone can find a way to protect stators from the oil I'm afraid they will eventually fail. Dry stator bikes with the same regulators seem to work ok, as do boats and tractors and they outnumber the GS bikes.

Glad to to see you're happy with the RR and I hope it all works out long term for you.

The heat plus oil is the big killer. sh755 will make it run cooler to the oil wont affect it as much...Still stators will not last for ever...but might last a bit longer that normal.

My local Triumph dealer quoted me a $12 price for the Triumph connector kit. Watch the shipping from the US, it is often $40 or more and really kills a lot of the good deals available. Where are you in Canada? I called 5-6 local Polaris dealers and they all wanted $97 for the regulator. This was in the Calgary to Red Deer area.

The 650 stator doesn't see much oil in upright position. I avoided use of kickstand ,but got lazy with second stator and used kickstand more, so stator got to bake in hot oil while parked . I'm convinced this contributed to early demise (actually did not fail completely , but topped out at 13.5 volts). I figure anything that reduces stator heat has to help! Should note that all my stators have been 30+ year old units.

I would rather not have to cut into a wiring harness for a clean install. So i would prepare to crimp my own ends so i would still need to source the connector parts. Thats at least $40 from jpn(easternbever) plus shipping. But saying that i am thinking about some other EB stuff anyway..

From gs stator in my signature. This is perhaps an item of interest.

Cheap SH-775 Connector Source

#1 The SERIES Shindengen R/R SH-775
commonly available from Polaris Dealers. Search the GSR site for recent posts on best price and availability. This is most peoples number one choice for an R/R replacement because of low price, easy availability and SERIES performance. It's only down size is a fairly large form factor (same as the MOSFET FH012) made even larger if you use the mating convectors.

Lots would work ,but your best choice is none of them! get a SH-775 from a Polaris ATV dealer their part #4012941 . search on the forum for reasons why.

Steve has graciously done the price checking for online ones- if you got a Polaris dealer near you, inquire ,cuz they might be close or willing to bargain.

Another Tip on the SH-775 from DeCosse

p.s. I also just found while searching EBay and cross-referencing OEM Parts Fiche that SeaDoo and CanAM also use this same Shindengen SH775 Regulator under their OEM part number 710001103.
Now - the new price is about 2x that of the exacts same Polaris OEM part - even from same common dealer!
But there are a lot of used SeaDoo/CanAm SH775 on Ebay (although still about the same price used as a brand new Polaris-sourced part)

I'm not sure how you are going to install it without cutting into the harness at some point, but there are a lot of ways to achieve the same thing.

Well I already had a Honda RR there. Its currently wired into the harness grounded to a grounded block and directly connected to the stator. So am my cutting is done. All i will need to do crimp new ends and replace them.

oh and find a place to mount the darn thing..

mmattockx
cyclepartswarehouse: 572 + 20 shipping to Italy, seems fait to me; otherwise follow duaneage suggestion.

I am planning to run the wires dirextly from the stator to re R/R without intermediate connections.

I might prove wrong, but from the deepness of my unfathomed ignorance (on about everything) I see the time as come to just do it this way and eventually assess the cons later..

If you wanna follow suit we might share experiences.

Ciao
