    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I got my GS assembled-ish and discovered that I certainly have wiring issues. Now I'm about 75% certain that I have all my wiring in place correctly based on the wiring schematic, but then again I'm only 75% certain. Is there any connections that are really easy to confuse? I'm a little leery of my points connection and my fuel sending unit connection, as well as the r/r and stator connections. Everything else I was totally sure of though... Help?
 
Send me a list of parts that you want to be sure to connect correctly and I will take some pic's from an 850 for you.

Suzuki uses a silly routing for the stator wires (one leg going to the headlamp switch) so I always bypass the harness and feed the stator wires direct into the R/R. Fuel sending unit hook up is easy; hook it up so the colors match on the bullets. Not sure about the points, sorry.

Suzuki doesn't duplicate colors very much so if the colors and plugs match you most likely have it right.
 
Just be sure your fire extinguisher is handy for the first start up, and could you please shoot some video when you do. :)

ya i almost needed one too for my 1000 :o ya there are a couple of connections that made me go huh and :-k but ya the only way to check is to have a battery in it and run down everything with a multimeter and extinguisher at the ready(make notes of changes you make in your manual or at least on a piece of paper by the bike.) the easiest way is to go system to system (ignition, charging, lights..etc)
 
Ignition (points) feeds should be simply one black feed and one white feed from the points and should be sheathed in a gray sleeve. On the harness side of things they plug into the same colours though there are a couple of other wires bundled with them usually (oil pressure switch, sidestand switch IIRC) there are a couple of wires usually in the headlamp that don't match side to side (one side of the turnsignals is light green, the other black,) and I think there is a wire down near that same bundle (the one with the ignition wires) that might not match up side to side (I'd have to look ata diagram again) and there's usually one lonely wire up in the headlamp that doesn't connect to anything (usually brown but I've also seen it gray, that's aux power feed I think) but other than that most everything has a mate that matches. Some bikes have a connector along the spine that doesn't go to anything, probably a shared harness with a different model that had different features or dummy lights, but if you've found all the mates you're probably good ;)
