    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Which spark plugs should I be using?

I hv a 80 Susuki gs100 and need to know Which spark plugs should I be using? Someone told me not to use champion, isthis correct? Thanks
 
I cant tell you which ones specific, but I use absolutly nothing but NGK in all my cars and bikes. period.
 
Why did they tell you to not use Champion Spark Plugs? Your 1980 GS1100GL would take RN3C or N3C in the Champion brand. The RN3C being the resistor plug and the N3C being the non resistor plug. Either of these plugs will work just as good or better than any other brand.

I agree and have a strong testimony for using NGK plugs!

it is the only brand I use in every engine I own

champion are well known for high speed misfire and fouling at cooler temperatures.

I am only giving my own opinion from my experience..

B8ES or B9ES the 9 is good for the summer when it is hot out.

they do have resistor plugs too BR8ES, BR9ES

expensive exotic material like iridium type plugs are available too
 
I've used nothing but NGK plugs in my GS Suzuki shafties, in almost 21 years of operation of 4 850's and now my 1100GK. If a bike won't run right on NGK plugs, then there's something else that's wrong with it.

I even used NGK plugs on my 850 Moto Guzzi Eldorado, which I owned for 7 years before switching to GS Suzukis.
 
NGK's are better than any other plug. Champions are the worst, I temporarily used autolites, they suck. NGK's just seem more reliable. I just picked up some Iridiums for my GS. I got them dirt cheap since I work at an auto parts store. 1/3 price of retail.
 
I agree with NGK's being good plugs but I disagree with Champions being the worst. I have had them in all my vehicles, garden tractors, three wheeler, tiller, chain saws and most everything else I use. Never had any problem with them. NGK's quality control department and plug design are not significantly different than Champion's. Denso makes a very good quality spark plug also.

Whereas my twenty-odd years on bikes and ten years in spare parts have proven to me to use anything EXCEPT NGK!!! Every dud plug I have ever had has been NGK, including going through ten brand new plugs to find two that worked. I was given a set of NGK Irirdiums by the NGK rep. and two of them have crapped out in 3500kms.
I use Denso now.
