DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Tires ? Metzeler, Bridgestone, IRC, Continental, Avon, or Pirelli?
(for the 1983GS750E/ES)

(I created a spreadsheet that details all this and also on tab 2 has the tire size comparisons - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kCNSsnDrnTOsAUK99S8TukLLzJbWd2DKm-KsZm2wQMI/edit?usp=sharing)

Manufacturer/notes
$/set (for a PAIR OEM size or closest size)

Metzeler Lazertec (rear is 130/80 vs OEM 120/90 ? they seem like a good value after the rebate)
http://www.metzeler.com/site/us/products/tyres-catalogue/Lasertec.html?version=1044046
$175 ($223 and $50 rebate)

Bridgestone Battlax BT45 (same size as OEM size)
http://www.bridgestone.com/products/motorcycle_tires/products/detail/pr015/index.html
$191

IRC DuroTour RS310 (same size as OEM size)
http://www.irc-tire.com/en/mc/products/commuter/rs-310/
$160

Continental Conti Go (front is 120/80 vs OEM 100/90 ? the dry rotted tires on the bike I just got are 120s and it wants to severely dive into slow turns, I?m thinking it may be a result of the wider tire issue)
http://www.continental-tires.com/motorcycle/tires/motorcycle-tires/allround/contigo---allround
$196

Avon RoadRider (wider tire issue as the Contis 120/80 vs OEM 100/90)
http://www.avonmoto.com/products/street-bias/roadrider
$185

Pirelli Sport Demon (rear is 130/80 vs OEM 120/90)
https://www.pirelli.com/tires/en-us/motorcycle/all-tires/sheet/sport-demon
$220

The conti go's are diving because you went from a 90 side wall to an 80 and the tire is smaller in over all diameter. I hav e a 83 750 e since new and have run 130/90/17 rear and 100/90/16 fronts for ever with no issues

Yeah, that is what I figured, that is why I want to go to stock.

so all those years and sets of tires, which form the list would you recommend?

the metzler does the best for the longest on my 16 inch front wheel

I like the Pirelli Sport Demons though they are not a long lasting tire. I also liked the Bridgestone Battle Axes which developed a flat spot on the rear tire but I've only tried them once.......

Meh, they're all round, black and somewhat sticky.

What you didn't state was what you are looking for. Cheap? Long lasting? Great handling?

Cheap? Long lasting? Great handling?

Value based on all those factors.

they are all about the same price +/- $25 of the average
I don't ride much (I'm working on fixing that) so long lasting probably applies to safety after date of manufacture
I'm not a racer but would like to have confidence in turns

the price thing I can decide, the other two factors I need you guys' experience

ordered the bridgestone battlax bt-45 from motorcycle supestore, thy pricematched americanmototire.com, submitted the rebate online with no issues

I have them on my bike and I'll buy another set, either for this bike or the next, they're great tires
