A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Im getting ready to paint the motor on "Gabrielle" and was looking through the archive for other threads from members who have painted their motors. I was surprised to not find a thread dedicated to pictures of them so, here it is. Id like to see the cleanest/nicest Japanese air-cooled engines you've seen.

An example of a CLEAN motor:

Noooooooooo, what are you doing???????????
This is going to lead to mass depression, and you know suicide is always high this time of year, I am not going to look, I am not going to look, I am not going to look, I am not.........:cry::cry:

Mrs. Steve's 850L has to be right up there at the top.

This is at the bike and scooter show in Perth, I rode it there in a thunder storm and then home :).
Sorry about quality, taken on mobile phone

gettin on the "not me" bandwagon. PO sprayed the engine on my 400 when it was rebuilt. Looks ok but that was about five years ago and it has started to flake in spots (probabbly where he didnt prep properly).

It might not be the cleanest but for being untouched in 32 years I'd say it's pretty nice.

I'd honestly have to say either one of Eds, Bruces, or Keiths. I keep my motors fairly clean but those guys take it to another level.

If we make a post for the dirtiest, I'm sure mine will be in top numbers along Bert's. Too many road miles, too little cleaning.:D

"Dirty Bike" thread?
I'm "All in"!!!
Riding them, does that to them BTW. ;)
Although, quite a few forum members do have some fine looking show pieces.

you are being way too modest. It looks like you rolled it off the show room. it looks cleaner than my kitchen counter. I could eat off of ur motor.

Someone find this bike a MUD PUDDLE!

But you wore the kick-starter off by polishing!
You got more pics of the kawi build?

Not mine, but I saw this bike on flickr and couldn't believe it...

Check out the album and the story here

Guy bought a Zephyr from the original owner
who "had it from new and he did just over 3K careful miles, he then moved to Worthing in 1999, gave up the riding but never gave up his love for the bike.
He polished it every Sunday, started it up for 10 minutes every other Sunday and there it stayed till I bought it from him."

Here is mine....probably not the cleanest on the board, BUT this bike gets a wash ( coin car wash) only once a year. Probably because I'm fortunate in having an engine that's completely leak free. With over 50,000 km, the engine paint is still factory, and so is the finish on the case covers (not been re-polished).

The sharp blue GS1000 in post #1 belongs to Paul (doubleblue), another local GS member. His bike is really stunning in person...the pics don't really do the paint justice, IMHO....it has won prizes in local Ontario shows.

Ahem ... I think since I sometimes spend more of my weekend fooling with my bike than I do fooling with my girlfriend... if I spent more time to keep it all spiffy clean like some of those shown... I might wake up to find a note from my girlfriend about me loving the bike more than her... Hey, at least I understand the bike.... besides, when it frustrates me, I can lock it in the garage for a week. No flowers needed.

wow. those are some clean motors.

what do you all recommend as the best polisher for the cases?

other than man power hahah
