A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm always too busy ridding than cleaning or polishing...

I can say that neither of my bikes deserve to be in here, I imagine if I put in the time, alot of time, well maybe. Mine are daily drivers, not show bikes. I'm not going to sweat out going through the occaisional rain storm knowing they're getting dirty. As long as they're decent looking and rideable I'm OK with that, and also knowing I can take them up to the next level should I ever care too.
But to those of you here that have invested the time and effort, I salute you! The bikes here look awesome!

My vote goes to Bruce! It's one thing to put out a clean bike after restoration, but Bruce keeps his bikes ultra clean at all times (other then when he's riding them).:D

Wow Bruce is that the same bike? You plowin some feilds with that bike?:) Is that a before or after pic and what are you using to clean your motor?

That happened during a two day trip with Tom_MLC. It was after I did the initial cleaning. Here's what I started with:

I used toothbrushes and baby bottle brushes and Simple Green. I scrubbed on it for days, then polished the side covers.

I now only need to wash it down and use some Mothers on occasion for the polished stuff.

Im getting ready to paint the motor on "Gabrielle" and was looking through the archive for other threads from members who have painted their motors. I was surprised to not find a thread dedicated to pictures of them so, here it is. Id like to see the cleanest/nicest Japanese air-cooled engines you've seen.

An example of a CLEAN motor:

That would be doubleblue's bike, one of my favorites.

Sorry, I need to disqualify any motors that were silver and now painted black. Trevor and Bruce get my votes.

Geez Bruce, you missed getting mud on a couple of the carb bowls! Sure looks like you would have gotten a bit wet.

My secret weapon! Purchased this little beauty at my local Canadian Tire.:)
Please let us know how it works....it looks suspiciously similar to a Spinbrush sonic toothbrush, done in industrial yellow.:p

I used it today and it works great used it on my rims but it works awesome on hard to scrub parts on the engine where you can't get chubby fingers. $20. plus another $10 for more attachments. It was a rainy day here in Victoria so I spent the afternoon in my garage cleaning up the bike.:)
