    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Why bike raises when taking off

i have new springs to put in and was wondering if this would solve the "raising up " when i take off.It doesnt dive much when stopping but the old springs seem to be compresed or tired.Also I have the circlip recessed spring stopper and Im kinda confused on the pvc spacer lenght I need. One more question,How do you raise the bike without taking the exhaust off? i was thinking of just a car jack and a peice of wood under the oil pan.Is it ok to lift the bike on the front of the oil pan?
 
I've done the block of wood thing. I am not recommending you do it (insert legal disclaimer), but I have.
 
I wedge a 12 pack cooler under the bike while on it's centerstand.(Ex-Ohio shade tree mechanic)
While all weight is relieved from the front end I would start with 3/4" PC sticking out over the top of your forks. If it's too tight shorten it ect.....
Make sure the PC has absolutely NO angle on the cut or you can't get the fork cap to thread.
 
I stick a couple of jack stands under my case guards to raise my front end.

You have one of those "shafties" shaft drive bikes!

My cap does'nt thread, it has a circlip and the spring stopper is recessed down in the fork tubes about 3/4 ". This is the 'L' model.It is set up different than the other models.I also have a bottom and top spring.Why suzuki did that I have no idea.

This part(circled) is held in with a circlip?

# 48 is the clip and stopper.#49 shows how far down the fork tube it is when together.
 
get a strong friend, have him use a old philps screw driver to push every down into the fork and hold everything down, then you sneek in and set the circle clip to keep it from poping out.

i think your right,with the clip type it looks like a 2 man job.
