    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

"85" GS 550 ES. With the air forks & monoshock, how can I lower it a little. My only idea is a 16" rear wheel from a "82" thru "85" GS 550 L, but not sure if it will fit properly. Any ideas?
 
Just a thought, any way a different seat might sit lower for her? Or maybe fit her some of them tall shoes from the 60's? hehehe :D
 
You can trim an inch from the seat foam using an electric carving knife.
Cut it from the bottom to keep the right shape.
Worked for me.
 
Shorter spring on the monoshock and drop the fork legs through the yokes? :-k
 
If you can find a Corbin Gunfighter, that will help a ton! My 85 has the gunfighter on it and I'll bet it dropped the seat 2 inches. Combine that with "E" spec bars, and I feel like I am riding a chopper!

You could drop the forks in the triple clamps and inch or so, and I thought all of these bikes came with the 16" front wheel? You could also run shorter tires (80 or 70 series), to drop it into the weeds.

My wife is still intimidated by the 85 550E, thus I am in the market for a training bike like a GS250/SR250/etc.

My wife's 5' 8", a tad " vertically challenged " to touch down fully while on my GS, so we took her leather Prexport bike boots to a shoe repairer and had 1" thick rubber soles and heels fitted. :lol: Of course now the boots look weird , but they do the job. I didn't want to butcher my seat, so I butchered her boots instead !
She rides a Seca, so she don't care :D
