I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Will 650G Vetter saddlebag mounts fit an '80 1000G?

I just bought an '80 1000G that I'll be working on for probably the next 6 months to a year.

One of the things that I want, to add to it, is a set of Vetter bags. I had a set on another bike & loved them! So, I've started lookin for a set for "Penny" (the "to be copper" 1000G).

The closest I've found, so far, is a set on eBay from a 650G, with mounts. My question is, "Will the 650 mounts work on a 1000"?

I'm sure that I could mod the mounts to make them work, but I'd, obviously, prefer to do a straigt bolt on, especially at the prices they are listing on eBay.

The last set, that I got 5yrs ago, to put on my XS750, I paid under $100 inc'g shipping & they were in great shape with keys. Now, they are being listed for a few times that. Grrrrr...

So, does anyone know if those mounts will bolt on or not?

I doubt it, the frames are night and day different but I've never played with Vetter bags before. You know the Vetter stuff isn't worth much, I'd wait till you see a local ad or someone on here has a set. No one wants them anymore and the stuff on ebay is out to lunch.

I have mounted a set of Vetter bag hardware to my son's '80 1000G.

I don't know what the differences are between the three years of 650 that were available here, but I can tell you for sure that the Vetter mounts for the 1000G will NOT fit an '82 650GL.

Thx!
Your reply confirms what I was thinking....eBay prices are way off base, & most people are pulling them off. I like a good sized set of bags because I put my jacket & pants in them when I get where I'm going often. Weither I'm at the beach or walking around town, I can do it more comfortably & I have space for anything I pick up to take home.

Steve, that's what I figured. However, I thought I'd give it a shot & ask the question. Thx
