Will a stator from a GSX250e fit a 400 of roughly the same vintage??

G'day folks,
First post for a while but needs must eh?? On a whim I just took a wee glance at the 400 donk I've had sitting in the back of my van for a while now. The stator cover was only loosely attached so being the inquisitive type I went a took a wee looksee. Now as anyone knows, the nosey are rarely rewarded and of course I soon discovered there's no bloody stator in there. Now, I just so happen to have a pretty much mint 250 that I was planning on robbing for whatever I could use on the 400 (for which I've only got a frame and loose engine as well as some lovely wire wheels I managed to acquire.

Soooo, my question for the moment is, will the stator from the 250 do the job on the 400, or is there a decent upgrade I should be getting now that the chance is afoot??

Many thanks and hope to be a relatively regular contributor

I just took a look at the engine number after finding out on here where it is and it's looking like I have a GS450 engine (which funnily enough matches the 450 frame I also discovered I have) Now, seeing as 8 valves are usually a touch better than 4, how much luck would I have trying to fit an 8 valve gsx 250 head to this thing (with some oversized valves possibly???)

Hmmmm (again)
I've done some more searching and from what I can see the 8 valve head from the 250 is similar to the 400 version apart from the obvious difference in valve sizes. Having said this it seems that the stems are basically the same with only the valve heads being larger for the 400. I'm kinda hoping I can do a swap?? Although now that I've opened up this Pandora's box I've found a post from someone hoping to swap out their 4 valve per jug head for a 2 valve version due to the aforementioned being a touch weak up top???

Any and all advice gladly accepted although I am looking/daydreaming/hoping that I might be able to swap out my 4 valve head for an 8 valve job, but if this is a silly idea, by all means don't be shy and let me know the folly of my reasoning.

I'm also considering upping the capacity to 500 by fitting in the necessary pistons. Sheeeeeet, who knows, mebbe an 8 valve 500 could be on the cards eh??

This bike (and it's 250 lil brother) only owe me a few hundred bucks and I've got plenty of other whips to get me around so it's all really fun and games tbh.

I would really love to hear from anyone with some experience in this field...

From memory, the 400/450 rotors are bigger than the 250. The nose of the crank where they go on is bigger too on the 400/450 so I doubt if the swap is possible.
You'd need the 250 rotor to make the smaller stator work.

The 400(8V)/450 swap top ends quite easily as the barrel stud spacing is identical. The 250 only looks the same...the stud spacing is very different.
