Windshield/flyscreen recommendation?

Forum Apprentice
Does anyone have a recommendation for an aftermarket windshield for an 82 gs750t? I'd like it to be something on the smaller side, not too big just big enough to keep the wind off me mainly. I'd prefer it be something that could be easily removed as I'd only really need it when I take the bike out of town which is just a couple times a year, 95% of my riding is around town and I prefer the naked look.

Also have a 750T. Found this generic screen on eBay a few years ago. Original ad is no longer up, I looked, but my history showed I paid $21.99 for it. It does about as much as you’d expect. From something so cheap. It does take the wind off my chest, so it definitely helps a little. there’s a company called National (I think) that sells a variety of different sizes. Folks seem to like them.

I actually like that one a lot, reminds of some of the older Hondas. It looks like that just mounts in to places to the headlight bracket, correct me if I'm wrong. Does that seem solid enough to you? The last thing I'd want is that thing ripping off on the interstate and smacking me in the face. I found several like it on ebay for cheap.

Tomorrow I have the day off. I’ll take a video to show exactly how It mounts. It’s very solid.

Hmmm ok, I was thinking I'd have to go bigger but maybe that would be enough.

Small is good.
There is a space between bikini and nose high that the biggest effect is deafening turbulence at the helmet. I took a cafe style off the 850 and didn't miss it one bit.
I had an R100RT and it was great even if the fairing not following the bars is weird. I have an in-betweener fairing on the R1100R and mostly I push it flat for peace and quiet.

Video as promised:

I did search eBay for a bit. Didn’t come up with my exact screen, but a few that are similar. Here’s one. Says it’s for a Bonnie. Shown on a Honda. Idk if it’ll fit. But that’s part of the fun:rolleyes: there are many others.

As a side note, you don’t necessarily have to remove the headlamp from the housing in order to loosen the bucket mounting bolts through the ears to install if the screen has the type of mounting tabs like mine. On the one I liked above, I believe you would.

If you’re interested in the LED headlamp, that’s a Truck-Lite 27270C bought on Amazon. It is a direct swap for your original sealed headlamp. Fits in the stock ring and bucket. When I bought it, it was around $140 and sooo worth it. Now $302???? Holy inflation! Gotta think you could find one cheaper. Do not fall for cheap imitations.

Anybody ever put a National Cycle Mohawk on a GS? And know how might look and perform? Can be mounted a few different ways but says for my GS850 it mounts to the headlight bucket.

Awesome thanks! That's a very different mount than a lot of the ones I was looking it, looks much more solid. About where does the wind hit you at highway speeds with it on?
Without anything I got very fatigued on just an hour highway ride and took my phone out of the holder because it felt like it could fly off from the wind buffeting. This screen would definitely solve that problem.
I do like that led light but am pretty satisfied with my factory one. Before I bought mine I was planning to put on an led light but was shocked at how bright my original light is. It puts all my cars to shame actually, it's blindingly bright on high beam. Good ole glass lenses that don't get cloudy like plastic junk.
Thanks again for the video, I'll do some searching and see if I can find one that's more similar to yours.

It’s just enough to get it off my chest. On the highway, on the few occasions I’ve had it on the highway, it’s OK in a straight line. But head turns/lane checks are rough.

I have the Tiger with bigger screen for touring.

Ok gotcha, my only point of reference is the massive Windjammer that was on this bike when I bought it. With that thing I was totally shielded from the wind but god that was a massive beast. Made the bike handle like topheavy crap too. But I got used to the handlebars moving independently of the fairing and headlight like you said so for a while it felt weird to ride with it off.
