    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

    Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

    So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Wire crimpers

Can anybody recommend an excellent wire crimper (wire stripper not necessary)? Some of the insulated terminals I use on my bike can not be soldered so I need to crimp them properly. I'm considering buying a Channel Lock crimper just because of their name as everything else I've seen on the market looks very cheap.

I never liked crimpers, always crimped and soldered connections, I've seen too many butcher jobs done by so called mechanics. I work for DOT Nova Scotia on their snow removal equipment so it's around a lot of salt.
Instead of using a crimper that flattenes the insulated end I use one that puts a dimple in the insulation, seems to hold better than one that just flattenes the end. I think mine is Channel Lock cutter/crimper, cost $25.00?....Mike
 
I have had good luck with this style crimper.

The one I have at home is an Ideal version of this tool and is almost identical except in color.

I went out and bought the channel lock crimper. It looks just like the one Mike has and works well enough. It doesn't do as good of a job as the factory crimped wiring on cars or bikes but it will have to do.
