A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Check your pilot screw settings. After a rebuild, I start with them three full turns out. When the bike warms up, I will turn them in until idle speed drops, then back them out 1/8 to 1/4 turn.

NOTE: Set each carb individually. Seems a bit silly, but each one can be different. Don't just see where the first one is set, then set them all the same.

Not sure which are the pilot screws are they the 4 screws countersunk that normally have a cap blocking them off or are they the inner ones with the nut on them no 30 on parts fische

Yes, the pilot screws (also known as mixture screws) are the ones that were blocked off with a cap at the factory.

They were set to meet EPA standards, so were rather lean. Over the years, as the parts in the carbs have gotten a bit dirtier and the gas has gotten a bit less potent, there is a greater need for a bit more fuel in the fire, so those screws need to be turned OUT. The stock settings might have been in the 1 3/4 to 2 turn range, most of us have found that 2 to 2 1/4 works better. Since it is easier to get a bike to run with a richer mixture than a lean mix, we start with the screws out 3 full turns, then turn them in to lean the mix as necessary.

Super I've set the outer 2 at 3 turns out and will adjust them as needed waiting for screwdriver to arrive to fit middle 2 are these the screws you balance the carbs with as I've just bought a balancer.

No, carb balancing is done by the screws on the throttle rack
