    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just gave my 78' gs750 a thorough test ride and while doing so I noticed that it would run OKAY on prime, but when I turned it to the "on" position it would start to shut down. How can you tell if your petcock is the issue? I disassembled the petcock and didn't find any broken gaskets or o-rings, and the diaphragm is clean. Its frustrating given the fact that I already adjusted my valve clearances not even a month ago, I have new intake boots..I've already taken the carbs apart, the pilot and main jet are clean, haven't really checked anything else on the carbs... but I did adjust the air and fuel screw. I adjusted the float height, (I dont have the tool :()
Any trouble shooting ideas?
 
The easiest way to test the petcock is to suck at it. :rolleyes:
Seriously, with the petcock set to the ON position, connect a fuel line to the petcock fuel nipple, aim it toward a pan or something to catch the fuel.
Connect another line to the vacuum port on the petcock.
Suck on the vacuum line. If fuel comes out, the petcock is fine.
If fuel does not come out, switch it to PRI. If fuel starts to come out, it is your petcock.

Of course, he means that fuel should come out the FUEL port. :D

You have to be careful sucking on the vaccum port, though, there is a possibility that there is a hole in the diaphragm,
which would allow fuel into the vacuum line. Gasoline does NOT taste good. :eek:

LMAO. When I was a kid, we had to siphon fuel for the lawn mower (and for my 150). Not only does it not taste good, it hangs around for a while.
