I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I could use a little tech help with my 80 GS85G. While changing out a clutch basket and cleaning up the inside, I also removed the secondary drive cover. I had to remove the gear shift lever and bumped the shaft which inturn caused the shaft teeth to disinage from the pawl holder teeth. After finding my mistake (had to drian the new oil and remove the clutch basket) I centered the shaft teeth with the pawl teeth. I left my clutch cover off, turned the key to on, tried to shift but can't find all the gears. Also, the gear indicator light will only show (green) netural. Any thoughts? Thanks

was the bike in neutral when you refitted the shaft and centered the teeth? also is the spring located correctly on the shift shaft?
with no oil and the cover off you will probably need to spin the rear wheel by hand while trying to shift through the gears

It was in N when I put it on the center stand, so it should still be in N. The gear shift spring is centered on the post (on the clutch side). Also, from the pictures in the manual, it sure looks like the shaft teeth and pawl teeth are properly centered. I'll attempted to spin the wheel and shift. Thanks. I will repost if this works or does not.

The bike won't shift right with the engine off and not spinning. Try turning the rear wheel when you try to shift though the gears and see if that helps.

Boy my right arm is tried. Spinning the wheel helped. The dash gear indicator shows green (N) 2, 3, 4 & 5. However, 1 didn't show up. The foot shifter did feel (and I heard it shift) like it went into 1rst. Then when I lightly pull the shifter up it shows N (green light). Going to have somebody spin the wheel and try it again. I will post the findings. Thanks

Had my son spin the rear wheel with both hands. The good: N, 2, 3, 4 & 5 all light up when upshifting & downshifting. It feels like to drops into 1rst, however still no light. I lightly upshift and the N green light comes on. Should I be too worried about the 1rst gear light not lighting up? Thanks

No...

Pull the chain cover on the other side of the motor and the "thing-a-ma-bob" that runs the gear light lives under there...
