    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

    Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

    So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi,

I recently received a bulb from superbriteleds.com, an 1157 replacement, their model 1157 R-30 with 30 LEDs. It fit into my tail light just fine and worked just fine. But it wasn't as bright as the normal Stanley bulb (1034). One good thing was that when I stepped on the brake, the headlight did not dim at all when using the LED tail light. But I didn't want to give up the extra illumination of the regular bulb.

I've just ordered one of their 1157-LX3 Luxeon LED bulbs that are supposed to be the brightest things out there, brighter than the filament bulbs. I'll let you know when it gets here.

Thanks for the info, I've been wanting to grab some LED bulbs since I got my bike, but I wasn't sure what would happen :D Can't wait to hear how the Luxeon bulb works out.

The Luxeon bulb got here today and I did a comparison test on my tail light right away. I got the red LED as suggested. (The red lens would block a lot of the white light but does not block red light.) I was impressed, the 1157-LX3 bulb was much brighter than the standard Stanley 1034. When I stepped on the brake, the brighter intensity was instant, no delay as with a filament. Now, I don't know if the Luxeon bulb was $28 brighter. In other words, the standard Stanley bulb is about $2 and the Luxeon 1157-LX3 was $29.95 delivered. But I'm thinking that the LED will last forever. If so, then I won't feel bad about spending that much for a single bulb. Plus I like the fact that when I'm sitting at a traffic light and hold my brake, the head light doesn't dim.

I'll let you know how it holds up and what my other riding buddies think of it. (Once in a while they let me ride in front.) :-D

Plus it's nice for the cars behind you sittinf at a stop light. They don't have to turn on their inside light to read their maps and the red allows them to keep their night vision :)
