Hi Guys, I've had a few people ask me about my part of the world and have often offered to show people around this part of the world if you are 'crusing through'.

I thought I'd start a blog about my rides in this area and post a link here so you can see it. I'l update here everytime I update the blog.
I've only got two posts on there so far but it's probably worth a look if anybody is interested -

I'm new to this so any tips and suggestions will be more than appreciated.

I can loan you a bike, feed you (at least a few times) and show you around. The plane ticket is up to you.

We only have a small house too but there are lots of reasonably priced places that you can stay nearby.

After seeing a few of your pics I'd love to come down your way. But I would never be content with a two week stay. I think I'd need a least a few years to see all I'd like to see down there. Maybe someday..... So until then post lots of pics

I'm not sure to be honest. It's a 'google blog' and I've only just joined up myself. I'll have a look and see what I can find.

I've got about 6 jobs going begging. I can't find decent staff. Although the media keeps telling us about doom and gloom we've yet to see it down here. Things still seem to be buzzing along. The economy has slowed slightly but very very little.

They are now saying that it will pick up again in the next few months and we will be zooming along again by early next year. We were the last ones into the 'recession' and we will be the first ones out. We were extremely lucky this time 'round.

Out of 215 'best places to live in 2009' - Sydney came in at #10.

Chin up. Despite what certain right wing nutjobs may say, I think that President Obama is a positive influence on the U.S. You'll pull out of this and be great again.

I am an ecological restoration specialist. I have training in horticulture and other 'sciences'. We plant trees along freeway embankments, repair erosion in sand dunes, rehabilitate old mining sites, replant forests after logging operations etc.

Basically anywhere that 'man' has a negative impact on nature we are called into to try and restore the balance.

I was originally a panelbeater (you guys call them auto body repairers). I went to college at night, whilst I was working for a body shop, and studied horticulture. I then left and got a job working in a large tree nursery. That was 18 years ago, the rest is history.

I've employed everyone from garbage collectors to doctors. As long as they are keen to learn (and do a course or two) I'll give them a job. A lot of it is learned 'on the job' anyway.

With mechanical skills, you'd get a job in this country tomorrow. We have a 'skills shortage' down here at the moment. Even with the 'recession' there are still places looking for skilled staff. In the next few months we will back to where we were a year ago - importing labour from the Pacific Islands. http://www.humanresourcesmagazine.com.au/articles/e6/0c025ce6.asp

I have always wanted to visit Australia, ticked me off to no end that I never got to go on a west pac tour while I was in the Navy. Look forward to seeing some more shots in the blog.

If mechanics are in short supply, I wonder if my A&P certificate would be recognized down under .

I'll do my best at getting some more pics in the blog. Unfortunately we've had a few weeks of intermittent rain here lately and I've not had much chance to get out for a ride (I'm getting cabin fever).
