    Victoria-Moab-Las Vegas-LA-Victoria

Got back last week from a 2 week ride.
Some buddies from Victoria were trucking their dirt bikes to Moab for a week of riding the desert. So Greg and I took off on our street bikes to meet up with them for a few days before heading off west on our own.
We took off Tuesday night so we could get getting across the border out of the way....7pm ferry was beautiful

Snoqualmie Pass could have been a problem early in May but 75 degrees and sunny

We did some big days...first day 830kms to John Day Or....been here many times and it never disappoints....our motel keeper lol

    Quick stop in Golden

Breakfast in Prairie City Or....love finding breakfast on the road

Our only concerning weather happened on our way through Idaho...in the afternoon black clouds were chasing/surrounding us ....thought for sure we were going to get dumped on but only saw some very light rain for 20-30 min, the rest of our two weeks was nothing but sunshine and lolly pops!

We stayed in Tremonton Ut and it's nothing to brag about...lol....our day to Moab was a shorter day of around

breakfast in Brigham City...I discovered this place last year when I travelled by myself to Vegas via Moab last fall...great breakfast!

      Our route

Our digs in Moab...I stayed here last fall as well

We arrived in Moab on Friday and our friends weren't showing up until late Saturday so we did a small loop to take in the sites.....did a little hiking too

On Sunday we rented a side by side so we could ride in the desert with our buddies....what a hoot! Not cheap but worth it

Monday Greg and I headed to the Grand Canyon via the famous and jaw dropping Monument Valley...

Our route and with us finishing in Marble Canyon

          Breakfast in Bluff Utah

          Run Forrest Run!

          It's a big hole

Now this was one of my favorite places we stayed...this place came to my attention on my solo trip last fall and I said I have to come bac and stay here!
Middle of nowhere....it did not disappoint....over 100 years old

The hidden gem of this motel in Marble Canyon was what was right across the road from us....a gorge that was as deep as 1000ft in spots...the owner told us about it and we hopped on our bikes and rode onto the dirt road to explore....wow!

You can see our little oasis in the back ground

I took this photo of our motel on our way back to it from the gorge....I really like it.

Great pictures and write up Trevor.
I'll be in the Moab area next week. If I had someone to go with I'd love to do that 4X4 buggy thing. I might just go on the Jeep tour that they have. I'm really looking forward to riding up through Arizona to the canyon. Then over to Moab.

So far I've been able to keep my daily costs below budget.
If I don't spend it on hookers in Vegas, I might be able to splurge and spend a extra day in Moab.
Although I really want to ride Colorado. Colorado has much better beer than Utah...

Looks like a fun road trip and some great pics of the scenery, Trevor.
There are a couple Youtube rabbit holes that i occasionally fall into about off-road vehicle recoveries and repairs in Moab. Gorgeous area.

Next we were off to Vegas for a two day stop. We stayed at the Flamingo and believe it or not it was one of our cheapest stays on the whole trip....I guess they just want you there to gamble...My buddy gambled $1 and I $7....lol
                      Our route from Marble Canyon

Talk about a culture shock from the Canyon lol

Having fun with the locals...lol...it was my buddy's first time in Vegas and didn't believe me this would cost him money...lol

Quite the pool at the Flamingo.....to get a lounge chair was $75 plus a $150 bar/food tab....we sat on our towels...lol

From Vegas we rode to LA where we stayed in Studio City at the El Patio Inn
we had a plan to see some live music. I had done some homework a month prior and found a dinner/jazz club owned by Herb Alpert called https://www.vibratogrilljazz.com/
Macy Gray was supposed to be playing the night we were there but she fell ill and couldn’t perform . They assured me on the phone that we should still come and we wouldn’t be disappointed by the jazz band that would be performing that night.
Wow what a place and night! I had told them we were two Canadians on motorcycles. The staff was great with us asked us lots of questions about our ride.
We had a great table upfront and centre stage. The dinner was amazing. The musicians were awesome. The drummer was from Earth Wind & Fire and the guitarist was from Stevie Wonder’s band. We sat beside a guy that played guitar in Prince’s band. The vibe of this place was unreal…older crowd and well dressed.
Our waiter asked us what we thought about the band and I said I “couldn’t believe how good they were” then he says to me “did you guys see Gene Simmons”? I said “ah no, is he here”? He said “don’t look now but him and his wife Shannon Tweed are having dinner at the table right behind us”.
He was so close to us that I could have actually reached out and touched him! Lol
