Chuck, I've known many folks that got new hips, and not one off them regretted it. Every single one was thankful, including my wife.
      Good luck....And do your rehab...

So sorry, Chuck. Do you have diabetes?

Minor heart attack sounds like an oxymoron! What's up with that?

Maybe it's a sign from above to chill.

Fasting glucose and a1c are different tests. A1c shows levels over a three month period.

Dang Chuck, such a bummer... but got to work on the most important things first. Kind'f like it wouldn't seem right to fool with a leaking fork seal if you knew you couldn't ride till the oil pump was fixed... Fasting or not won't affect your A1C number, A1c is an average of your blood sugar readings for the past 3 months, The fasting or not will affect your immediate blood sugar reading... Really hate it for you, will be waiting for better news.

Ugh, you really wish the left hand would talk to the right hand... my wife went through a similar merry-go-round of testing and specialists. She had the sign-off from two cardiologists, an anesthesiologist, a witch doctor, the Pope, a young priest, an old priest, and a couple of other specialists, and they still called off a much-needed surgery literally at the very last second, with everyone scrubbed and ready to haul her away to the OR.

Six months later, she has a pacemaker and we're hoping the re-scheduled surgery in two weeks will actually happen.

Keep your head up and keep trying, Chuck.

None of that is great news, Chuck, but most or all of it can be overcome.

Dizziness is a major concern, especially if you ride a bike, but there are many possible reasons and the shortness of breath may well be a contributing factor.

I do not know your regular exercise regimen but if it is slow then change it...NOW.
Walking can be a wonderful tool for you, in many ways.
This may not work well for now, given your condition, but keep it handy in the future.

The simplest, and potentially the most beneficial, change to make may be in breathing itself and improving it can make a huge difference.
A real-life fact is most people do not breathe properly, no matter how much they think or say otherwise..

Start with full exhalation while standing, then squeeze your diaphragm muscle sharply to get the rest out in a burst.
Next, breathe deeply through the nose only and get the diaphragm involved. Do it slowly, then repeat for a few minutes. Feel the difference.
Doing this is the key to full-lung air intake and exhalation..
                      Make it a habit.

Small side note: do not work hard at doing this at first and do it slowly.
Doing it either fast or for more than a few minutes at first can cause hyperventilation.....and make you temporarily dizzy.

Low oxygen levels are often a cause for shortness of breath and dizziness, and your heart has to work much harder, so doing this simple thing, and making this new breathing method a regular part of your life can go a long way in helping you.

I'll 10,000% endorse this! Before cars where invented we had to walk everywhere to do pretty much everything. Human evolution cannot compensate for our lack of activity over the course of 3-5 generations. Yeah I know you don't want to hear that but let's face it, that's just how it is.

I started walking every evening several years ago, it's time consuming, but some evenings with help of ear buds listening to different things I've put in some miles...

I don't do it as much lately because long hours at work I don't feel like it.

Bought a mountain bike, but it's work..lol walking is good.

If i could walk id be doing it. Im thinking maybe a exercise bike or something to get calories burning and get the A1C down thats the biggest issue.

My A1C and cholesterol both sank down to well within the normal range after I gave up driving my van to places that where less than a mile away and I started walking instead.

Right now I realize that your joints need work but when you come out the other side of this you really should give it a try! Heck I've even got my gym goon buddies walking now after finally convincing to hem that chicks prefer athletic guys over goons, I used to bench 500 lbs right along side of them 20 years ago, now I doubt It could do 250 but I look like Iggy Pop!
