I know it says FREE then theres charges added which i can only assume is due to tariffs. In any scenario the point is that ive never been billed from any carrier until now. And i do a lot of ebay purchases on bike parts and tools i may need. So far this is incoming from Canada to the US. Thats why i asked about this issue on the Vietnam seat thread.

They make it so confusing and complicated I don't see how any regular folks know what's going on... Pretty sure it's on purpose.

I don't think it's intentional. The carriers need to create systems and infrastructure to efficiently collect the money, and transfer it to the government. Tariffs are nothing new, though. Most countries charge for them, or some sort of import "duty". It's amazing we haven't seem more of this until now. I think the de minimus change was the real "shift", more than anything else.

So basically it is a handling fee thats been issued from the direct impact of tariffs. I will pay it as its just 5 bucks. But heres the problem going forward. What if its a big high priced item and say the fees come to 150 dollars. Thats gonna severely squash people pretty quick.

I sold a set of restored carbs to a guy in England. When they arrived, the buyer was presented with a customs bill, which was a good bit of money. He complained to me, but there is nothing I can do on my side. Such charges are part of everyday life in much of the world. De minimis was protecting us from paying any tariff on goods costing less than $800. That's gone now, thus, get out your wallet.

Its get out the wallet or look for US based vendors. I think this is part of the scheme too. To FORCE people to this end. I dont agree with that leverage and people should be good with buying from overseas without being held up at "tariff point" as it were.

Here is an invoice Fedex sent me .... I've already got the product so there is no way I am paying it ...... The item was $27 ..... The government of Kanada has a website where one can calculate the correct duty . { link below } For my item { from Hong Kong } it should be $2.97 not the $7.24 Fedex is attempting to charge . And the $11.40 they are charging for a " disbursement fee " they can stick up their a$$ { The seller paid the shipping cost } ..... If they weren't such d!cks I'd pay the correct duty and PST and GST . But this way they get nothing ......

Well, haven't we, the customer, paying this kind of tariff stuff and fees for a long time? Just never or very rarely even mentioned. It's seems since Mr. Orange hair has adjusted the % rates of the tariffs it's getting brought up, talked about, and blamed way more often than before.

We have paid tariffs for hundred years but they have always been figured into the prices. This is new that the carrier is openly billing the recipient of the packages far as i know. least its the first time ive gotten a bill

Tariffs have always been there. People were unaware, though, because it was baked into the price of goods. The big change is de minimus, which allowed goods valued under $800 to come into the country without paying. That exemption is now gone, so all goods, regardless of value, get hit with prevailing tariff rates. Mind you, those rates are fluid, and have been increasing, but that's not the main issue, it's because the tariffs were skirted.

I have given up coffee. It's just gotten too expensive to justify. It's a multitude of reasons, tariffs being only one. I spoke with a manager at Costco, and they are making major changes. I used to get Jose's colombian for about $10 for 3 lbs, and grind it at home or if lazy, at the store. Now it's $20. See you later coffee. Just another brick in the wall for me.

3 lbs of coffee will last for something like 2 months, so $.33/day. I get that the price increase is frustrating, but in the grand scheme of living, it's not a lot of money.
