A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

just kidding.
This was my first time motorcycle camping, and the furthest from home I’d ever been on a bike. The spot Eli69 had picked had no electricity and no running water except the nearby creek. And it was perfect.

Must have been camping pretty close to home, 30+ yrs. ago folks didn't normally venture too far from home on a Sportster.

In autumn of 1976, two riders came up to SUNY Brockport (between Rochester and Buffalo) from New York City for a weekend visit (385 miles) on new motorcycles. One was a GoldWing, the other was a Sporty. The Sporty was GORGEOUS! Custom "graveyard" paintjob, peanut tank, chrome staggered shorty dual exhaust, chrome rounded rectangle air cleaner, beautiful seat, short sissy bar.

I watched them warm up for the ride home. Sportster started right up with the choke (and was vibrating slightly more than the GoldWing). As they rode off, I knew that the ride would be more comfy on the Honda. Still, I would have taken the Sportster hands down.

"vibrating slightly more than the GoldWing", Did you figure out what was wrong with the Sportster??? It should have been vibrating waaaay more if it was running like it was supposed to.

I believe this would fall under the heading of minimalist camping.

rphillips we were only a few hours from home in that photo, yes.

But in 1990 I rode that '78 Sportster from the suburbs of Chicago to the Sturgis 50th. 18 hours straight through.

Bob, Rob, I's raised pok'in fun at Harleys,,, just haven't been able to quit... Hopefully taken as just pok'in fun

So this place is great for camping but when I left I saw two signs that said "No Motorcycles" and "Area Closed". I got there at night so I didn't see them. Oh well.... I hope to go back some time.

this is the 6th. night of a 8 night tour. South of Joseph Or. just off a back road. when the tour was finished Suzie Q had just over 3200 miles on her, summer of 2003. Didn't spend a dime on camping that trip.
