    I'm not sure, but I think mine does have a detent at the 'PO' setting. I'm going on break here in a few, and when I do I'll check it again.

      Nejeff...Horn got here today. Already got it stripped down and repainted. I will post pics when its dried well.

      Hooked up some wires and touched to the truck battery..man thats a loud horn!! I think the rim was stamped 125DB!!

                Thanks Frank...I got a few spots that I refeathered and am gonna shoot one more layer and she should be about as good as she can get.

                You know the level of rust and how much sanding I was in when you were here the other day. Well I got about 3 hours alone just in sanding and working it all as smooth as I could get it.

                IF IF for some stroke of luck I get a real setup for doing this for paying customers, I think I would call the shop.."From Rust To Lust Cycle Restorations" How does that sound???

                  Frank and I got together yesterday and took my angle grinder with a thick rope style wire wheel and got to the business of stripping / grinding the old paint and massive rust areas off the swing arm and the center stand.

                  Center stand was ready for paint but the swing arm was in need of some pitting repair. Got it all filled with Bondo and hand sanded it all out. Smoother than the metal on the underside actually!!

                  Hand sanded the entire thing to remove the marks left from the angle grinders wheel. She is paint ready soon. The big hole is where the grease fitting goes..it was junk.

                    Forgot a little info. The swing arm has the 2 end bushings with a solid axle that runs full lenght. Has spiral grease grooves machined into it at each end.

                    Anyways, we knew it had to come out, so the 2 LB sledge went to work and we managed to get it apart. The end bushings were stuck on so badly they broke the ends off. Not a tragedy by any means because they needed replaced anyway. So I just ordered up a set of new ones off Ebay...

                      Todays ventures were to install the new swing arm bearings, get the glass removed for cleaning and sand the cases for the repaint.

                          Just unearthed/bought an armload of major components from a gent up in Wisconsin who's parting a '78 B model; forks (ours are bent ), rear shocks, seat, brake caliper, triple tree, and a few smaller items. Next step is to get a rolling chassis while motor is being overhauled by Jap Bike Randy.

                          Still looking for shiny stuff, and will be placing order through Z1 for new cables, tubing, + assorted metal 'n rubber bits. Of course, new tires are in order; interesting enough, the "baby Z1" uses same tire specs as the Cooley (100/90-19 front, 120/90-18 rear).

                          Will need complete paint works, too. (paging Larry Pearson, Larry please pick up the phone...)

                          Looking forward to getting her road worthy in next few months. Love this ad...

                            Larry doesn't have a place to paint far as I know.

                            Am baking the gauge covers and the bar top clamps as I type this.

                              Got one more to paint, but these are a FAR FAR cry from their start points!!!!

                                Gauge Face Lettering

                                Not a "factory perfect" job, but its about the best I got out of about 20 tries..having to go back and clean the area and reapply.

                                I wound up using the very tip of a Flossy Pick flossing thing as the applicator. It was the finest thing I could find to get just the very tops of these tiny letters.

                                What do you think Frank??? Passable??? Got a little over run in a few places.. but I am gonna let the paint cure and then gently try to scrape around and crisp up the edges...hopefully.
