My sister has one (1300). I test rode it for some mods I was doing for her, I don't remember any interference with body parts.

The police around here use the 1300 (well, Gilbert has been switching over to C14s) and like them a great deal."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

There was an ST1100 running around where the owner bought a wrecked bike cheap and proceeded to remove, cut down, and lighten absolutely everything possible just to see what would happen. I saw it in person once in Ohio, but the guy rode it all over the place.
It's a great bike but very heavy. And basically, the more stuff he took off and made lighter, the better he liked the bike, so he kept going as far as he could. He even removed most of the airbox, leaving the air filter exposed and sticking out the top -- he said it didn't cause any FI issues.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
