    not a gs, but a 1980 yamaha xs850 project. Used high heat semi gloss black rattle can picked up from advance auto parts. scoured with steel wool/3m pads, prepped with some oops cleaner (lazy back then-still worked!), it came out clean.

          Lordy, this is an old thread, but anyway...

          Here's my GS850 with a 1980 engine rebuilt and painted black with polished covers to ape the original '83 engine paint scheme -- I use PJ1 Satin Black:




          Here's a GS850 engine I rebuilt for a friend and painted all black. Sets off the stainless nicely, methinks:



          1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
          2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
          2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...
          Eat more venison.

          Please provide details. The GSR Hive Mind is nearly omniscient, but not yet clairvoyant.
