                Good Morning.

Here's some pics of the front wiring from my '84. Hope they help.

Good morning Larry, glad you're sticking with the thread. I helps me a lot!!!

as his bike had been de-GK'd http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/z...4/PICT0127.jpg , we may also need to have some pic's of the inside of a "G" headlamp housing if and when the time comes.

                  a statement revision...

contrary to what fuse information I listed before, according to the 'GK wiring diagram this is what the #2 fuse covers...

                  turn signal relay
                  turn signal control unit
                  brake light switches
                  fuel gauge
                  horn
                  gear indicator lights (N-1-2-3-4-5)

"#2 fuse may cover more" (need coffee first!)

let's see if we can get lucky... please disconnect the horn(s) (unplug the electrical wires) and try #2 again.

                  (crosses fingers)

***EDIT*** is this how the front wiring looks at the present time? http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/z...k/100_0708.jpg

No.....Thank You !! I know next to nothing about electrical things. I do know how to take pictures though. I hate to see someone in need of assitance and I don't know enough to help. To bad there's not a member with electrical knowledge closer to the OP to lend a hand. Steve (skreemer) went out to help but, he's a few hundred miles away......I guess that's why this site (and all of us) are here.

Besides...another GK will be saved, which is worth it. IMHO.

LarryD, your pictures look so good...wish my mess looked liked yours...

I will connect the horn and see what happens. LOL, think I should buy stock in fuses though.

                        OOPPSSS....read your post wrong.

I hooked up the horn and replugged the white connector back in. Ya...POOF!

The horn hasn't been hooked up at all until I just did it.

Sorry, but could you please tell me what you mean by electrical wires.

Yes, that is what the front wiring looks like at this time. The "new" harness wires are hanging out, and the wiring for the headlight and such are still there from the old one.

EDITED - maybe that's the cause, eh?

                        Thanks!!

What I meant was disconnect the power from the horns and see if #2 fuse stops blowing. I see you hadn't even hooked them up yet.
with the horns not connected it sure "blows that theory"...

It will have to be later on though, I have a "stress relieving" post to make after dinner.

do you think the mess up front might be causing it? maybe wires are touching and I don't know it.

                              Food for thought:

Here are some pictures of the front. The first one is just the harness coming out.

This picture shows the blue/red wires attached from the harness to the blue/red wires from the speedo

This white connector goes to the back of the indicator lights

This off white one goes to the tacho

The blue connector.. The blue connector has a light green wire out of it attached to another light green wire. The black wire out of the blue connector is attached to another black wire. There is a grayish wire and an orange/green strip wire.

This is a green/yellow strip wire attached to a green/white wire....

And then here is a melted connector. White wire, yellow/green strip, yellow/white strip coming out of the bottom of the melted connector.

that one is the ignition kill for the clutch. (most folks do the same to disable them)
