How do I get this bearing out?

    Depending on the composition of the 'rubber', carb cleaner just <might> remove it.

      Yeah, "might" is the operative word. I'm guessing it's nitrile since it's an oil seal. We'll see.

          The old carb cleaner, yup. Before my nanny state here (CA) took all the good stuff out of the store, if I dropped a carb part in the dip with any rubber, gasket, or plastic on it, it would come back out without it. Does that stuff your using still stink to high-heaven?

              Slide hammer bearing puller, aka "blind hole" bearing puller:

              Since you likely don't want to buy a puller set and you have access to the other side, you can use an expanding concrete wedge anchor or similar in the center. Get it good and tight then tap the bearing out. Heating the part a bit will help.

              I think it would be best to replace that bearing.

                Nope, bearing is in good shape. Nice and smooth. Besides, it's all back together and back in the bike. Almost ready to fire it up.

                  If you have melted an oilseal onto one side of the bearing then you should really replace it. There must have been a reason why you had it stripped to the point of needing to remove the bearing.

                    Seriously guys, the bearing is fine. I only intended to remove the seals. Never intended to remove the bearing.

                      You might not have intended to remove the bearing but after covering it in rubber (to my mind) it's a no brainer. I have scrapped bearings if I have put them down and found they are covered in dust. The crud gets between the balls and the outer / inner race and wears them out in quick time.
