Gs1100l
I have run across a GS1100L shaft drive motor the owner insists is an 1100 but it's the two valve design? Was there such a bike? would have been 79-80? I have only seen 1100's as a four valve motor. Any enlightenment?

It's called a GS1100GL. The 82 model is the GS1100GLZ and the 83 is the GS1100GLD. ("Z" for 82, "D" for 83.)
All GS shafties are two-valves-per-cylinder engines. The "G" designation means it's a shaftie.Comment

Yup!
If you've run across an 1100G/GL engine for sale, I bet there are several people here who would love to know where it is and how much. With some attention to peripheral details, it bolts right into any 850-1100 shaftie chassis, so an 1100G/GL engine is a sought-after upgrade.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
