        Here is my problem....

I have been around the block a few times. I took the engine home un assembled and then over to the second shop.

The argument in court could go like this since I had threatened Mechanic#1 with the police to get my motor back.

I could have done the damage to blame him?
the second shop may have done the damage to get the business?

It is a lose lose situation and a lot of agravation for a maybe outcome years down the road. The God I serve has told me to walk away from this one. He will deal with it.

I know what most of you are saying right now and a few years ago I would agree..BUT.. as much as I want to drag this guys name through the muc here in town and destroy his name [ which I am inclined to do] and take him to court, I can't.

Doesn't happen in every case but this one I have to leave alone. call it what you will but the Lord I serve can make it right so I am going to trust him to do so. I will let you guys know what happens.

It has been hard to walk away it isn't my nature. We [my wife and I] have prayed about what to do. My wife was praying the other day about it and asked the Lord for some work for me if we were to walk away and she asked for the call that day[it was 5pm] She wanted to say this week to give God some time but felt an immediate answer was what she should pray for. I haven't had a call for work in some time. I am in the movie business-stuntman. One hour later I had a call for almost four weeks work.

To most, this is a co-incidence but too many of these co-incidences happen to us when we pray to ignore them.

        I appreciate all your support...

After the sudden death of my brother at 32 a broken back adn the death of two of our children this just isn't a big enough deal to get worked up about and wast a year persuing. the thousand dollars can be replaced.

Sorry guys...I didn't start out for this to be a testimony. I believe in holding people accoutable and I do normally, it's just this time I have to stand down. If this guy did mess with my motor, his life is a mess and I am glad I don't have to live it....so I give him the grace the Lord asked me to, for what ever reason he did...

Sometimes it's not easy being a Christian and following Christ. But then He never promised it would be.

Hey Katman, sorry to hear what happened with your motor. Real crappy deal there man! Back yard work or 'under the table' jobs just aren't worth it. I pull wrenches in a Suzuki dealership here in Medicine Hat, and I see/hear this kind of crap enough. The biggest reason I got into this trade was I love bikes, but I didn't trust nobody with my stuff. I do just about everything myself, except if it requires specialty machining/welding. Anything like that I trusted my stuff to Niagara Race Crafters in Ontario. I've had them do my Katana crank, bore the cases, and big valve my cylinder head and the work was first class. There is another good place that my shop deals with that do nice motorcycle machining work out your way. Mongoose machine and engineering. www.mongoosemachine.com
I'll keep my eyes open for ya if I see an engine for sale. You may be better to find a complete used bike and rob the engine from it? I've done that before.
p.s. Did you ever get them pics I sent you of my Kat's/GS??

                No katman too,.

                I didn't get your pics...send again..

I do deal with mongoose...but they have cut back on the work they do.

I am having my crank done there..it was suposed to have been done there the first time but the owner J has told me it wasn't but he would look at the one I have and check it for free.... good guys down there.

I am dealing with Imperial Motorcycles now... owner down there is well known in the road race circles. I hear he does most of the dukati work here even though he isn't the service center...does the best work. He is cuting me a deal because of my situation....pitty is good some times.lol

I know many people he knows so I am pretty confident...I don't like to take my stuff to anyone either. do most myself...I am going to take a crash course in engine rebuilding so I can sue myself if it happens again.

Whatever you do - I wish you the best of luck with it.

Maybe, you should do the rebuild yourself next time. From the looks of your work, I can see no reason why not.

Good move Katman. Do what you have been told and it WILL come out right. I am actually glad to hear your stand because now I know a way better deal is coming your way

                    Rock on!

As long as you are comfortable with your decision that is all that counts. Things have a way of coming back too people. You put your faith in God and you've been rewarded. The moron that ruined your motor will get his just rewards one of these days. He'll screw the wrong person over and he'll be finished.

Katman, I've raced with a guy who I think works at, maybe owns, Imperial Motorcycles? Gord McMartin? If that's him he's a good guy! He has probably the nicest GSXR dragbike I've ever seen. The work on it is beautiful. If that's the guy you're dealing with, you're in good company.
You guys want some pics? I've got an '82 Katana car-tire dragbike, an '83 Kat 1100 that's mostly original, and an '81 GS1100e that I am turning into a single shock/gsxr suspended pro-streeter. I'll see if I can figure out how to post them??? :?

                            that the guy Ger.....

thanks for the reconmendation...makes me a little more at ease.

Gord seems to be a good guy and wants to help. Some guys would take advantage of my situation but he is going to give me a break,,,he says.

I am getting another set of cases, block and another head from the first mechanic. He says he wants to help me out because he can't believe someone would do this to my motor.

Gord is going to bore the block, some valve work and assemble the engine. The head is going to the best guy in town according to many for the porting. it's all he does. He isn't cheap. Mongoose is going to do the next crank and clutch basket.

I am selling the 1166 pistons and new powder coated block for the price of the pistons and buying new ones. selling the smoothbores too and going for the a Mikuni RS flatslides.

                            Want to start completely over

I am getting the cost for building another motor from Gord on Tues.

He is costing it out with the other cases, head and block.

I have talked to the powder coater too. All I have to do now is find a kat crank, find some misc nuts and bolts and buy a bunch more stuff and it should all be good.
