Rethinking the rear end a bit. The seat was a bit too short, and I just can't get over how wide the cowl is. I have a spare just in case, so i took to cutting three inches out of the mounts and plastic. It looks pretty good so far, but I am going to stare at it for awhile before I finish weld things. Looks like I am in for a bit of glass work on the seat pan too.....

Errr... yeah... "Gavin" is a little distracting...
Anyways, I'm used to the standard cheapo buckets from Woolies and Coles, so I'm guessing a 5 gallon bucket in the US is a different beast altogether, because that doesn't look weak and flexible at all, looks pretty darn good in fact!
Might see some more of those around this forum too me thinks
Nice find Scott, should really suit yours too i would think...

I think it would plenty strong, made from the paint buckets I use. I going to see if I can find a black bucket and give it a try. If I get it on the bike at least I'll know for almost no $, how they function.
Got a bit distracted at the BOTTOM of the page. RIP Gavin!

Here's the link:
Whipped this up yesterday... Paint is still wet. But I wanted to make one for a while. Cut it out of the side of a 5 gal. bucket. Lol! ..also made a couple of steel brackets to attach it to my headlight bracket. It's a little different, but I think it looks ok on the ole' girl.

Guest repliedThat looks like a trials bike, or my downhill mountain bike...
I bet you can mob around pretty good on that once it's done!

Guest repliedHmm
I could go for that. I just found an article on how to make a flyscreen out of a 5-gallon bucket!

What about a fly screen rather than a bikini/cafe screen?
I can't find it right now but I've seen one that's designed for twin lights along the lines of what you have and would be just big enough to cover the instruments and deflect a little wind off your chest.

Guest repliedLooks like a whole lotta fun. And no need for a cafe fairing, I really like the naked street fighter look. Its an excellent mating of vintage and modern, I love it.
Kinda makes me want to get my own small little bike to play around with...

Now that's really starting to take shape, and is lookin' real good indeed! Those twin lights suit perfectly now that I can see the whole deal and I like the look of the hugger in there too.

Guest repliedAlmost there.....
Got the rear end mostly done this afternoon. Finished all the welds, and started assembly. In order to get a good fit on the swingarm, I needed to grind a little bit off the arm itself, and re-weld the joint. Then I ground some more off the frame, pressed in the new shorter bearing, and away we go.....
Wheel is centered with new spacers, and I fabbed up an extension to the brake linkage and brake stay.
I put on the kickstand, and put her on her feet, and realized I need to extend the kickstand now. Another day....
