The bike: 1979 GS1000S. I've had it for a few years and have been riding it, but the motor is tired and it needs love.

The frame and misc. parts are just back from the powdercoater:

The replacement motor: I built this a few years ago intending to put it in one of my GS1000E bikes, but once I got the S, I figured it would be cool to use it there. Some of the specs:
New 1085 pistons and rings
Ported head with new valves and seals, 3-angle grind
Welded crank
Billet clutch basket with welded heavy duty backing plate
Back-cut tranny gears
Andrews S-2 degreed cams
Oil cooler
Mikuni VM33 carbs
Yoshimura exhaust

She will have an 1100 swingarm, Marzocchi or Works rear shocks (I have both) and straight rate springs in the front. I'm debating on using the stock wheels, or I have an 1150 3.5" rear and matching 19" front that I might use. Lots of NOS parts that I've been collecting over the years, and of course some fresh paint. As I said before, I have everything I need to get her finished...just finding the time to do it. I'll post up as I progress.
I'll shoot some update pics in the morning. Tomorow after some sleep I plan on getting the swingarm on and put on some temporary wheels so I can get the bike on my lift and start putting the wiring harness back on.
