I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

I'm thinking of putting 14-15in shocks to get some swingarm angle back after putting on my front forks and lowering it about 3in in the front. It will take away some rake but a balance must be found. Hence, why I'm excited to see yours get finished so you can tell me about her performance ha. Anyway, good job again and keep up the good work.
Rear shocks came with the bike, they are Marzocchi Stradas, bees nees back in the 70's-80's. They need to be refurbished. I beleive they are 13.5" long

O and last question for a while: Did your 170 rear tire clear pretty well? Would you clear your swingarm legs and chain with a 180?

With the wheel/tire all the way ahead it rubs very lightly on the swingarm. If it is pulled back 2-3 detents on the chain adjusters it has just over a 1/4" clearance.

So a 180 would be really tight on the swingarm, can't answer for the chain, but I believe it will fit in that aspect, would beable to answer more acuratly in a few days.

          My 170 measures 169.4mm wide @ 34 psi, Bridgestone Battleaxe BT021.

Hey I appreciate the quick responses. I figured it would be pretty tight! I may just go with a 170 to be safe and not have to whip out a grinder on my nice little swingarm since I went through all the trouble of finding it and what not.

How wide is the rear Bandit wheel you're using?

Oh dang that's wide! Good to know because I think I'm just going to put on a 4.5" so mine will definitely clear with plenty of room

Have you thought about mobbing the rear brake torque arm to the inside of the caliper? Will give you more exhaust clearance.

The interference is at the forward end of the arm. Good thought though, thanks.
