Looks great. I like the powder coating of the side covers.

When you say "new tires" is that because they have lots of tread or did you check the date code on the sidewall? Before you ride on them I would suggest checking the date code to be sure they aren't old and rock hard despite having lots of tread.

The tires still had the little nibs on them so I knew they had no miles on them but I never thought to check the manufacture date. Just checked and they are two years old so they'll do just fine.

There were about four different paintjobs (last couple were badly executed) so I decided to take it down to bare metal. I'll be painting it. Haven't decided if I'm going with racing stripe or old school scallops.

I smoothed out the sides where the badges use to be and painted the tank gold. I think I'm going to paint black scallops. There is a lot of black on the bike and I need something to tie the tank in with the rest of the bike.

Taping off the design is time consuming. I want the scallops to be perfectly symmetrical.

I'm diggin' the scallops and I think because the bike has a lot of black, it will look good.

The subtle gold on the bike should balance well with the tank. Looking nice!

Here's a pic before I clear coated the tank. The scallops were a pita to tape off but I like the results.

I really love the way this is turning out. I had seen a photo of just the frame and engine fitted in another forum somewhere and was hoping to come across the full build at some point. Here it is! Looks really nice - I am particularly liking the paint scheme of the engine.

What paint did you use on the engine?

On the engine I used duplicolor engine paint (I believe the color was cast iron)--primer,color,and clear. I powder coated the covers silver vein.

Looking good - those accents and scallops on the tank are sweet!

Do you have a fork brace on there? Saw the front fender off....wasn't sure if that was still in progress. Can't wait to see what you do with the seat.

I am planning to hack the front fender to just a mini fender. I have in the past deleted front fenders on other bikes without a brace. Is a brace needed? And would just a tiny mini fender take place of a brace?
