Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Got the wheels together today. Will try and post up progression shots every day or so. Want to have the bike together and ready to ride in time for Harvest Classic Oct 18-20.

WOW....

I can't even get my frame powder coated for 500 bucks let alone all the stuff you did and it was under 500....

Seriously? Powder coating my frame was $175. Total for all powder with sand blasting was $670. This included frame, wheels, swing arm, all engine covers, fairing brackets, seat pan, kickstand, chain guard, foot control brackets and a few other pieces.

Same pricing over here on the left coast. $300 MIGHT get the frame done...of course, if you can get all of the parts cleaned up yourself, $350 probably gets the frame and every other sundry bit done.

It's expensive enough out here that I have oft-contemplated buying the Eastwood powder-coating system for my own needs.

Unfortunately it's expensive......

It's the only reason my GS was done with spray cans.....well all the black...

The tins were done by a pro....

I have been put onto a powder coating company locally and to do all the bits and pieces on my Yamaha I might get lucky and it will run me about 400, this will be frame and rims, and a few bits, and that will be if I am lucky....if not, well it will get the same spray can treatment as did the GS...

:(

It is just awesome!! The darker gold of the forks does make them look like Ohlins. I was considering powder coating my stuff as well but it's still too far away. Need to find a job first.
Thanks for sharing, Russ.

Wow Russ she's going to look damn good when all together!

I had the pleasure again of a short ride on an '82 Kat yesterday with 1360cc or so but the rest of it is stock. Man that was fun :D

Pete I am going with a satin or "eggshell" finish. Going for this look in a white scheme with red/black accents. Hopefully turns out looking good.

Scheme I am basing it on is this with some slight variations. Still trying to figure out how to incorporate the red into the tail.

Yup that will be nice indeed Russ!

To get the red in, you could have red piping sewn in to the seat cover from the beginning of the pillion area or have the leading bits of the tail piece red.

Here's with the tail piece red.

Sorry about my crappy photoshopping skills...

Yeah Pete I don't know what to do. Also can't decide if I want to put a black with red pinstripe racing stripe down the tank or not.

Also just found out that the suzuki tank sticker which was going to be a red to black fade top to bottom isn't coming out right. Graphics guy called and red ends up being more pinkish when he tries to print. Crap. So may just have to go red with black outline.

Pinstripes are good... although yeah not sure on the Kat...

Bugger on the logo but the alternative still sounds good!

This will be mostly to do with the file format you gave him and the format he prints in.

All documents setup are either in RGB or CMYK - creating a document in RGB mode and printing in CMYK is going to make all things turn out strange. Your "graphics" guy should know this lol

if you need any help let me know. I study design so I've got a couple of photoshop skills lying about.

create your file using photoshop, then save it as a pdf, psd, tiff, png document (pick one) and give it to your graphics guy....

or use illustrator and create your image as a vector and then use the default format to save the file and give that to your graphics guy....I can't rememeber the format .is or .ai or something like that....

.

The graphic was set up on their computer at the business. I don't know all the technical details; I just know he had tried several different ways but with the fade he just wasn't getting the right color red.

Here's what the two looked like:

This actually looks a little pink on right side to but more due to crappy cell phone pic.

give me a buzz I can get a frame done right for 150 and rims 40-50 each in Bolton.

Getting there. Not sure if I am going to use the vintage Fox's or if I am going to use black/red YSS piggyback's that I have. I had traded my Ohlins for the YSS's a while back. Probably should not have done that but I wanted something different than what most folks use. Also all engine covers on bike now will be replaced with the powder coated parts I have. Should make it look a little better but I am not sure about engine paint right now. I wanted it to look satin but it looks like maybe primer that was used is soaking up the paint a little. We'll see when she gets all together.

Paint will be done today hopefully.

Yeah will need to see what those engine covers do but I think you'll be fine on the engine side Russ.

And yes you definitely should've kept the Ohlin's to match those front forks

What colour are the Fox's?
