Looks like nice progress. Were you able to sort out your issues with those Ohlins shocks? Are they still in the mix?

I love the look of that Koso gauge. The only bad thing is that big number at the top of the tach. I might forget that I wasn't riding the zx-10r and try to wrap that Kat up to about 13,000. That would be real cool for about 2 seconds.

The Ohlins are not going to happen; it was going to be $600-700 to rebuild them into a useable set. I'll just sell them. I sent the Fox piggybacks I acquired to Thor Lawson (fox rebuilder) and it looks like it will be around $350 to rebuild/restore. Maybe a little more since that didnt include anodizing the resevoir and I want that done.

The hear you on the Koso gauge. A cool feature would be if they had an adjustable redline.

Depending on what ignition you are using, the redline could be a non-issue. I have a Dyna 2000 on that blue and white KZ1000 and it has a built-in rev limiter. Set it and forget it. Looks like you already have the right coils for a Dyna 2000.

Yep Dyna 2000.

I love that little blue box. It's one of those things on my bike that I never have to worry about. You should be able to take your tach signal directly from the dyna if that Koso uses a digital signal.

So after flip/flopping many times on shocks (and I might still have sme flip/flopping left in me on this issue) I decided to bite the bullet and order a pair of new Ohlins. At 13" center/center I wish they were a little taller; may add some length to them to pick up the tail just a little. Jay fabbed an ignition switch mount. It's growing on me. Also parts are starting to arrive. Excited to see the rotors fitted. Those are Chinese made and we'll see how they perform. I think I paid $259 for the set.

Katman will be shipping oil cooler/windscreen/etc. as soon as everything arrives. Chris at Motogpwerks is going to make up an exhaust for me. Once we receive that should be able to get her fired up.

BTW if anyone has a line on a custom cbr954 top triple please let me know. Katman has them on his sight but unfortunately only in chrome which I do not want.

That's looking real good Russ! Here I was thinking I was splurging getting new Ikons front and rear for the 450, but new Ohlins.... they're very pretty :D

You can get ?hlins shocks with different lengths, custom made for your requirements. Also adjustable versions. Just ask your nearest official ?hlins dealer, who will also be able to convert your shocks with a fix length into adjustable ones.

If anyone knows where I could get a non-chrome custom top triple for a cbr 954/929 please let me know.

I dunno what youre looking at spending but I can have one made up for you, with risers, for around $350, in 7071 or whatever you want really..Really the better way to go would be to use the stock top clamp from your fork set and just have a gull winged copy made of it... Nothing to have to fabricate (gauge brackets..etc) after that...

Or you could buy a chrome one and have it blasted and PCed..

BTW are those those Chinese Galfer knockoff rotors? I plan to get a set for the ZRX in the spring, everyone says they're actually outstanding quality..

Or buy another stock triple, cut the clamps off & have them welded under the existing ones...

Or get some extended fork caps. You then clamp onto the extended cap. I think there is a guy making them now... I will try to find the link.

WHY no one thought of this and did it sooner, I have no idea....So much easier and cheaper than a new clamp, or even hunting down a different one..

Oh ill have to mention these to Dave... I wonder how much longer they can be before you start worrying about them?

The stainless ones I saw were 50mm. Essentially I would think that once screwed in place the thread area should be almost as strong as a straight tube so I would think they can certainly go long enough for our purposes...

:)

Yes those are chinese galfer knock-offs Josh, and they do appear to be of very good quality.

Trying to keep the cost a little more manageable on the custom top triple; I already have the cbr954 triple and I could just have it powdercoated but I was looking for something a little more trick. I had a chance to get a vortex triple a few months ago and dropped the ball when the auction was ending. I haven't been able to locate anything else since.

So a little progress lately. First I was FINALLY able to locate a Vortex 954 top clamp. I was actually very lucky to find one as it was listed wrong on ebay and I just happened to look at it and quickly figured out it was not a gsxr clamp mas listed but indeed a cbr. Bling!

Also was finally able to procur an exhaust from motogpwerks. Race exhaust replica. These are a little different than his standard ones he does. I could say I wish it was a shade tighter to the bike as it makes the upsweep and maybe a tad longer but that would be pretty picky. I'm quite happy with it. Build quality seems very good and I love the look of it.

Now that the exhaust is here we can get the footpegs mounted up. finish up mock up and then strip it down for powdercoat, paint, etc.

Here's a better pic with skins on. Need to get the tail in the air a shade but I'm digging the lines.

Lookin' great Russ! Yeah that pipe is nice...

Now, are you going to fabricate some little side panels to fill that annoying little gap under the seat that Suzuki left? Wouldn't be hard with some thin aluminium or some fibre glass...
